Auction-Vette Candy Custom Steering Wheel!!!
Auction: C7 Custom Steering Wheel by Vette Candy
CorvetteForum (CF), Vette Candy and the National Corvette Museum (NCM) have kindly consented to permit this Auction of Vette Candy's Custom Steering wheel.
As most of you know, I won the introductory-vendor, Custom Steering Wheel from Vette Candy last Friday, September 4. But, as of now I don't have a C7 (as good as it is, and as much as I like it!), and I thought the best use would be for a current C7 owner to have one of these wonderful, Custom Steering Wheels from the newest CorvetteForum vendor, Vette Candy. I also thought the NCM could benefit from this auction with ALL the proceeds going to its Sinkhole Repair fund. Jim Willis ("Savewave") of CorvetteForum has reviewed and inputted ideas for the auction.
For examples of wheel styles, see Post #1 on: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-giveaway.html
Here are the rules:
1. The auction will run for approximately three days and end at Midnight on Friday, September 12 for any posting of a bid on this thread (all bids are to be made on this thread only).
2. The opening auction price will start at $350---and for those of you who know the cost of a Custom Steering Wheel, this is a very low price to begin the bidding at.
3. The winning bidder of the wheel will send either: a) a check made out to the NCM, or b) a credit card number taken over the phone by the NCM. ALL money bid for the wheel will be for the benefit of the NCM Sinkhole repair. Adam Boca has stepped up to be the point person, and he is our well-known, NCM and CorvetteForum person.
4. There will be a fully-refundable, $300 "core charge" * for the Custom Steering Wheel which the winning bidder will be solely responsible to send DIRECTLY to Vette Candy (after being told that NCM has received the funds from the auction--I will contact the NCM and relay the message to the winning bidder via email/phone). In turn, Vette Candy will refund the "core charge" of $300 when the auction winner sends his/her stock, C7, steering wheel to Vette Candy.
NOTE: The winning bidder will have seven (7) days after being notified by me that the NCM has received his/her funds, to then pay the "core charge" to Vette Candy. In the event the "core charge" payment is not made to Vette Candy by the end of seven (7) days, the winning bidder's position will go to the next person with the highest bid. Any money collected by NCM will then be returned to the first winning bidder and the process will begin anew with the second-highest winning bidder.
* This is a very standard practice for most steering wheel vendors to have a fully-refundable "core charge."
5. Adam Boca will tell me when the money has arrived at the NCM and I will notify Vette Candy (and the winning bidder) to expect a call/email from the winning bidder. Arrangements can then be made between the winning bidder and the lead person at Vette Candy, Sergio Flores, to decide on the different styles and colors of leather to be made into their Custom Steering Wheel. I've been told that the only limitation on steering wheel material selection is that no carbon fiber is available, at this time.
6. It is strongly recommended that the Custom Steering Wheel be photographed and posted on a new thread after it's on the car since this will be/could be the first one from Vette Candy on a C7.
And on the Seventh Rule, we rested.
That's it! Good luck. The opening auction price starts now at: $350.

So you signed up for a raffle giving away a steering wheel for a car you don't even own...when the vendor clearly said you had to post pics of it on your C7.
Wow.
I guess at least you're turning it into a win-win, but you signing up for the raffle in the first place was in poor taste IMO.

Nope. Dumped on him for doing a bad thing in the first place. The raffle rules clearly stated:
5. Pictures of your vehicle will be required
The guy entered the raffle even though he didn't have a C7 with which to take the required pics of the wheel on. Not a cool move.
...but yeah, at least he's making it right with this. Though I'm sure the vendor loves jumping through the extra hoops because their raffle winner couldn't meet the few basic rules they had on the raffle.

This thread should be stickied until the auction expires.

Let's get this auction moving...
$700
In a raffle, it's not necessarily the entrant's job to follow the rules. It's the raffle conductor's job to decide if the rule is going to be enforced or not. In this case, the vendor chose to proceed. Looks like a win/win since the vendor went ahead and allowed the winner to be the recipient and then to allow the auction to take place.
