Default 2015 C7 3LT - Nav doesn't work - red "X" over GPS box :(

Has anyone had this issue. OnStar said to try something kooky like turning the car off & leaving the door open for 3 - 5 minutes.

I made an apt with the service department, but this sucks as the car is brand new.

Are you in the garage? The red X means that there is no GPS signal. Try from a different location and see if the X goes away.

I just drove mine back from KY to NH, same issue even with a completely unobstructed
view of the sky, Nav went crazy spinning in circles, I should have captured a video.
haven't seen it again since getting home, but it happened very frequently on
the drive back.

Did you give the GPS a chance to find enough satellites to get a position fix BEFORE you started driving?

There was a solar flare yesterday that screwed up GPS all over the world. Give it a couple of days and try again. I suspect your car is fine.

Yes... I have the same problem. I picked up my 2015 3LT on Tuesday, drove it on a business trip to Washington DC on Wednesday with the same problem... It worked only occasionally. I drove back home yesterday and it didn't work at all.

My only disappointment...

I did.

Trying the process suggested by OnStar now.

Does no one read anymore? See Post #7 above. You can press your OnStar button a million times, and they won't be able to fix a solar flare. You can expect GPS to be erratic for the next few days .. quit worrying about it.

We are having the same problem. Picked up the car at the museum on Wed. Until today, GPS worked about 5% of the time in our car but it worked in the other 4 cars flawlessy. Seems to find us right at this moment. Thanks for the info.

And.... LOVE THE CAR!!!!

This happened 2 days ago and was expected to have a negligible affect on satellites...

According to Tom Berger, the director of NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center, the strongest of the two waves of solar energy will at most cause minor disruptions in GPS, radio systems and the power grid, but nothing crippling like what could've happened in July 2012.

Does anyone know if the system firmware can be updated by end-users? I see an option on the menu, but do not know where to go to check for updates.

Going to disconnect the battery, but my guess is the system is messed-up or not communicating with the GPS antenna..

Still an issue this morning... Started out with no GPS signal and then got a signal for about 5 minutes so the map was accurate. Then before I knew it, I was heading into a river and crossing diagonally through city streets...

Are others having the same issue?

I am still having this issue. I just called Chevrolet Customer Service and they told me the same... leave the car running in the same spot with a clear view of the sky to reposition the GPS... I tried it and no luck. They are suggesting that I schedule a service appointment and are going to call me tomorrow after they speak to my dealer's service department.

I can't believe others aren't having an issue as well.

I am really hesitant to take the car into the dealer and have them poke around and take things apart only to find out is it not an issue with the car.

Please... If you are also experiencing issues... please chime in so I can feel better that there isn't something wrong with my car!

Thanks!

I have the same issue, its either an actual (hardware or software) problem or a GPS with really poor sensitivity. it only completely lost its mind once, but even when it indicates theres no GPS it still seems to work, so its possible that the Nav has the ability to fallback on either the OnStar GPS or the PDR GPS unit.

I am. I picked my car yesterday and it has the red x up more than often than not. This is in fully clear areas as well.

Just curious as I picked up my car today and had no GPS signal. It had no clue where I was at so I couldn't even use it! Took over 200 miles or so before I got GPS signal and then my PDR stopped working!

Restarted the car and I got PDR back but lost GPS signal...

I was pretty upset that I spent $1800 on Nav and I couldn't use it to navigate back home from my out of state dealer.

I'm with you there. I will be driving along and look down and the position of my car is no where near where it actually is. I just hope it is an easy fix.
