Have A Bra, BUT Your State Requires A Front Plate? No problem!!!...

Here's an easy fix for you. It's better than buying aftermarket products that require drilling like the Hide-A-Plate, Show 'n' Go, etc., a bracket that requires laying on the ground to loosen screws so you can take it off for car shows, or even drilling holes through your lisence plate to access the screws on your Aeroplate.

This is also a great way to mount your plate without a bra for cruising around town. That way you still have quick access to your quick release screws on your Aeroplate.

Here's what you'll need...
  1. GM Supplied Aeroplate
  2. 3M Automotive Tape
  3. Scissors
  4. Box Cutter, Exacto Knife, or Razor Blade
  5. 4 packs of Nikel-Sized Craft Magnets from Hobby Lobby(picture shows only 2 packs) for $5.99 each. They have a 40% off coupon in the Sunday paper every week or download their app.

Use ***EXTREME CAUTION*** these are extremely powerful magnets, will pinch your skin, and cause bleeding!!! Yes, I speak from experience.

First, roll out your 3M Tape and push magnets on them so they stick.

Next, take your box cutter, exacto knife, or razor blade and trim excess 3M Tape off. You don't have to, but I'm pretty **** about things.

Next, you'll attach your magents with the 3M Tape to the back side of the GM Aeroplate next to the portrusions that go through the grill.

Next, install the Aeroplate on the grill of your car, take 4 more magnets, and attach them the to front of your Aeroplate with more 3M Tape(I chose not to for these pictures). Don't worry, the magents will find their "partner" for the location. ***WATCH YOUR FINGERS***!!!

Finally, put your bra or NoviStretch Bra on your car as you normally would, hold your lisence plate up, and use the final 4 magnets to attach your plate.

Use 3M tape to attach magnets to the back of your plate for a cleaner look.

In all, you'll have 3 magnets holding things on at every corner.

****We've driven over 350 spirited and interstate trouble free miles with the lisence plate mounted like this and it has stayed in place.***

SPECIAL NOTE: This WILL NOT cause ANY cooling issues running the Aeroplate with the NoviStretch Bra.

Nicely done...and for those using splitters, tape up the abrasion points with electrical tape, there is NO reason to tear this bra with any splitter.

THANKS Glen and Steve!!!

I wish I had thought about this BEFORE I drilled holes on the front plate to access the screws on my front aeroplate.

Outstanding! I intend to do the same for my 2LT if it ever moves past 3400!

I'd rather have bug smears, rock dings, and whatever else happens than ride around with that ugly mess on the front of my car.

Opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one.

No suction cups.

Powerful craft magnets from Hobby Lobby. NOT the cheap black ones.

I used them in conjuction with the GM Aeroplate.

Your car, your money. I'd rather not have all the rock chips, bug guts, etc on mine.

OP - way to think outside of the box. That's a cool way to mount the plate.

Thank you Jack!!!

I also mount the plate like that without the bra for cruising around town.

MUCH appreciation for the law enforcement community, but pulling me over for no front plate is kind of bunk.

Especially when there's "hoopties" out there with tinted windshields.

Sadly though, those are sooooo fakey (implants gone wild) that it's almost a turn off.

Haven't installed the Novistrech yet, but did the magnet/aeroplate thing today. Went well. A few notes, the Hobby Lobby item is 305854.

http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/...agnets-305854/

I was at Home Depot for the 3M automotive tape--no go. They had something similar, 3M Scotch Extreme Mounting Tape, $8.98. I think it's the same just branded differently. Also listed at Wal-Mart for nearly $16.

http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3...294268143&rt=d

First Hobby Lobby store only had two packages; second store only had two packages. You can only use one 40% off coupon per visit.

INTIMIDAT3R: Great design and example of American ingenuity. Thanks for sharing it.

Also, I used a hair drier to heat up the plate before perfectly matching the curve of the aeroplate.

Slick. I was kinda wondering how I might do something like that for the trips up to the lake. Those bras are easy to put on and take off too right? I'd use it mostly for log distance travel and take it off when I got to my destination.

BTW... I'm actually a newb in your club. I'm the guy with the Shark Gray "DASHARK" convertible that's been there the past couple times, although came to the last one rather late since I had to work.

Great idea! I did this for my 1600 mile trip from AZ. to WA with the stock Aero Plate a Novistretch bra a couple of weeks ago and it worked perfectly. Had to go to two Hobby Lobby stores to get enough magnets. No heating problems what so ever.

Interestingly the magnets are sold 3 to a package. Must be taking lessons from the Hot Dog and Hot Dog bun industry.
