All season tire options??
OK, winter is coming up and I want to be able to drive my only car in the cold weather. What options are there if no ZP's are available for the Z-51 wheels?

I like the Continental ExtremeContact DWS I put on last year. I'm about to put them back on. Michelin also offers an A/S in Z51 sizes, as well as a true winter tire.

Northwest Tennessee and yes it does snow occasionally. I wouldn't try to drive in anything other than a light snow though. Mostly concerned about driving with temps in the twenty's and teens. I'm also a little paranoid about driving on non-runflats even though I haven't had a flat in years.

I know the Z51 Michelin tire's are super high performance Summer tires, but I have driven many high performance car's over the year's with other manufactures Super High Performance Summer tires (The GY F1 SC on my 07 Z07 and HANKOOK V12's on my CTS-V and Jaguar XK) and had NO issues with cracking etc. Of course traction was reduced, but not dangerously. You just drove more gently and avoided hard acceleration. But once they warmed I never felt in danger.
The coldest temps I operated these car's was 4 degree's F.
I'm operating my 2014 ZF1 this winter with the OEM tires (not in snow/ice or sleet) but COLD temps will not prevent me from driving my Stingray.
If the tires "crack" I'll file a warranty claim and see what happens, then I will consider alternatives for next winter.

2015 C7 of the Year Finalist
Unless something changed recently, I don't think Michelin offers A/S for the Z51. They had A/S runflats for the C6 (18/19) but I haven't seen where they are offering 19/20s for the C7. If and when they do, that is the tire I will put on as my replacement to the OEM tires.
I just hit the Michelin site. They have a Winter tire http://www.michelinman.com/tire-sele...4/tire-details for the Z51 but not an A/S tire like the Pilot Sport A/S Plus Run Flat. The pilot Sport is the tire I want when it is available in the Z51 size.

Michelin Pilot A/S 3 All Weather Performance Tires have the highest ratings by Consumer Reports, Car & Driver, and customers.
"The Michelin Pilot A/S 3 All Weather Performance Tires out perform most dedicated summer performance tires."... Consumer Reports, Car & Driver 2013
I'm going with the the A/S 3's when my stock tires wear out.
Till then, my baby will be stored in the winter.

Michelin has A/S non-runflats in Z51 sizes. Supposedly Michelin and one other are going to announce A/S runflats in Z51 sizes, but there is nothing official. There are other Z51 size A/S too. Check Tire Rack for more.
You can always post your question / request on Michelin's web site. I got a call back from a Michelin guy who owns a Corvette! He understood the need, but said nothing had been announced when I talked to him a month ago.

I just bought an extra set of wheels with AS3's on them. I will be using those and also carry a compressor during the winter.
I thought about carrying one of my rear factory wheels and tire in the back in case I have a flat. I think that would get me to a tire store...not sure about that though.

The Michelin A/S are speed range correct. I put them on at 300 miles and I really think they make for a better ride and are much quietier. Sold my Runflats for $900 and paid $1100 with a $100 rebate. With mount and balance the total cost was about $350.
I like the idea of the Conticomfort kit. Good piece of mind.

I'm thinking of buy the Pirelli P Zero since I already has these tires on my daily driver a 2005 Pontiac Bonneville GXP with the Northstar engine and they seem to work fine and were less noisy than the Goodyear Eagle tires that were previously on the car !!!! Wayne
