Coolant temp. and trans. temp. are not an issue at all for me.

The oil temp. gets a little higher than I would like. If and when it gets to 290 deg. I either come in or run a little slower for a couple of laps.

I change the oil in the race car after every 2 or 3 weekends at the track.
Yes, I leave the 15W-50 in during "track season" Track season here in Florida is pretty much 12 mos. a year. Nothing better than Sebring in the winter.

I believe the 15W-50 is much higher in Zinc and they may not play well with the cats.

I guess that is part of the reason GM wants you to go back to factory oil. That and the cold tempos. we don't see in Florida.

If I have any catalytic warranty issues this post will self delete.

Have a good time! Have you ever tried running with the stock Z51 pads with them burnished? I am headed to the new Motorsport's Park in a couple weeks, I hate to spend $500.00 on a set of track pads because I am not sure how much tracking I am going to do with this car.
Thanks

Beretta, let me 1st mention that I did NOT properly burnish the stock pads and possibly caused my own problems with them.

However, I feel they are only going to work at say a novice level and I don't believe you are in that group.

I would not consider using them at say an advanced or instructor level. The car has a very strong braking component , but the stock pads are for street use. Don' chance ruining your weekend because of the pads. Hope this helps.

I understand, I guess I was just hoping I might could get away with it. You are right it's not worth taking a chance, I only have one track day scheduled which pads do you like best front and rear without being to hard on the rotors?

I use Cobalt XR2 front and rear. I leave them in for street driving as well. They are easy on the rotors and they require NO bedding. They are the only non street pad I know of that does not require bedding. If you don't track it that often I would just slip them in when I got to the track. Very easy and quick to swap out.

They will get a little noisy when street driven for a while.

*C7* are you the individual with the white C7 that I met at Barber earlier this year? I was in the LRG one if you're who I think you are.

Yes, that probably was me. I remember a LRG parked on the lower level near registration. Have you been back to Barber??

I haven't been back yet. I skipped the one in August. Since my z06 allocation came up this week I probably won't take the stingray back to the track since I will sell it to fund the new one.

Day 1 of 2. Car ran perfect as she always does. Used no oil and no strange noises. And I had a great time.

My friend was driving a 2014 Viper TA. It was a lot of fun, but it is hard to make up a 200 HP difference along with 345 Hoosiers, but I tried.
