If it's the same as on the convertible, it deactivates the motion detector when you lock your car.

Owners Manual:

Intrusion and Inclination
Sensors Disable Switch
It is recommended that the intrusion
and inclination sensors be
deactivated if pets are left in the
vehicle or the vehicle is being
transported.
With the vehicle turned off, press "Off"
on the right side of the hatch
release button. The indicator light
will come on momentarily, indicating
that these sensors have been
disabled for the next alarm system
arming cycle.

OK...Who leaves a pet in their new C7? I can only think of the scene from Turner and Hooch.

That's like letting a valet park your new Vette.

While activated you can not even throw a flyer in the car when the top is up on a vert. But with top down it is off or less sensitive.

The wife has stayed in the car several times when I have gotten fueled up and I have not had this problem. Why wouldn't the same thing happen when we both stayed in the car. I'm not a techie so please forgive if this is a dumb question.

The car wasn't locked, so the alarm wasn't armed. If the car had been locked you wouldn't have been able to open the gas door ..

But if you have auto lock enabled the car would have locked and therefore the alarm would have been activated.

A related question.... if your coupe roof is off is the motion alarm still active?

No, but there's a quick fix for it. You'll have to search to find the thread. Glen E's I believe.

Really? I don't know how it is in Florida, but in the PRNJ if someone calls the cops about you leaving fido in your car while you go into the convenience store for coffee you will be arrested....

I was at Costco getting gas with my son. He was sitting in the car and moved his arm to look at his watch and the alarm went off. I was a bit embarrassed.
