Why did you back up????
I bring my corvete to work on decent days and while searching for the right spot in my parking garage, this guy in a Toyota Highlander decides, I'll just back up 15 feet.
It's a SINGLE lane, ONE way parking garage with cars parked on a 45 degree angle to the left or right. He was with the casual market trade show and had a huge lawn chair in the back so he claimed he could not see me. All the more reason to not back up.
Needless to say, I'm now the proud owner of his stupid mistake. He has insurance and they'll cover it. But it's the hassle of dealing police reports (Chicago), finding the right repair shop, not to mention potential 'diminished value' from a hit I didnt cause!

Luckily that should be a simple fix, just make sure they replace the front bumper cover entirely instead of repairing it. There should be no disminished value as that is purely cosmetic.
But I agree, it sucks to have to pay for someone else's stupidity.

I got my first estimate and it's $1600.00 (remove/ replace OEM and paint). About a good two days worth of work. My worry is getting the parts. I'm hoping they're readily available.

Well, at least it looks like no more than the bumper cover.
A student did this to me at a stop light when my 2014 Charger had only about 300 miles on the clock, shifted into reverse and backed up without looking while talking on his cell phone. I lucked out and ended with no damage, but still . . .
You just can't account for some people.

That certainly will ruin your day and **** you off. In the end once it is repaired all will be well and you can put it behind you while enjoying your Vette again. Good luck with the repairs.

I know that hurts....When my 2007 got hit in a parking lot while it was parked it cost 11k to fix her...and about 5 weeks.
Good luck with the fix. Looks like a new cover and you're good..

Talk to the repair shop and your insurance company and do all you can to keep them from sending any report to Car Fax.. if the accident and its repair gets on Car Fax the future value of your car at trade in will be diminished! Oh Ya kick the dummy who hit you in a really tender place!
