Any C6 Z06 Owners Driving A C7?
As much as I love my Z06..........It was a family picnic that made me decide to look into getting a C7, 8 speed auto. I could not enjoy an ice cold keg of beer that was calling my name and my non-drinking wife can not drive a stick.
Also, a vert would be nice. My first car was a convertible and those wonderful top down memories never left me.
Z06 owners, are you happy with your C7 and its performance?

I had a 2007 VY Z06, I sold it in 2/2008.
I traded a 600rwhp 2011 Shelby GT500 Vert for my
14 C7 Vert A6, plenty of performance.
I might be getting old, but a stock car capable of mid to high 11s at 120mph is plenty fast.

Traded in '10 Z06 for the C7 Z51. If you liked the raw, visceral, grunting power of the Z06, you will be disappointed in in the C7. The C7 is much "nicer" in every aspect, but it removes more of the driving experience.
Depends on what you are going after. I would say the C7 has a driving feel more like a suburban than a C6 Z06, if that makes sense. Keep in mind, this is coming from someone who thinks an S2000 is more fun to "drive" than either Corvette in terms of driving experience.

Melting Slicks
Your question is difficult to answer for me after a month of C7 ownership. I had talked to a few very good car people about the C6 Z06 vs the C7 with Z 51 and I was convinced I would not miss the low end grunt of my '09 Z.A few said I wouldn't look back. Since I haven't been able to get on our local track because the winter buckled several stretches of pavement, I still can't make a qualified decision. I discern a considerable seat of the pants feel on all out acceleration getting on the highway on ramps that makes me think the Z was a hell of car and frankly very few could ever catch and pass me at the track the last 3 years.
The C7 however just seems so intuitive when I shift, almost like it knows what I'm going to do and the linkage is so smooth with no noticeable drop off in RPMs rowing upwards. And I haven't even been in track mode or utilized PTM yet. The steering is like a point and shoot camera, again almost knowing where I'm headed before I turn the wheel. It's really uncanny but some of you know of what I speak.
Give me a year and some track time and I'll be more forthright, knowledgeable and savvy.
I do miss just driving the Z to the track, doing my thing and driving home. Track prep for the C7 will be daunting for me if I follow the requirements A-Z. The Z was never that fussy to prep so time will tell.

Burning Brakes
I haven't traded my 2008 ZO6 for a C7 but my wife bought a C7 convertible so I have been able to compare them.
I love the characteristics of the C6 ZO6. The big engine, the brute force and the awesome acceleration are my cup of tea. The negative for me is the lack of traction from all that low end torque. I am running Michelin PSS tires and they hook up a lot better than the Goodyears the car came with. It is still too easy to loose traction off the line and when the rear wheels break loose at about 80 MPH in 2nd gear it can get pretty hairy.
My wife's C7 convertible is a Z51 with NPP and an automatic. When you think about it the 460 HP this engine puts out isn't that far off the C6 ZO6's 505. The automatic tones it down a little but it is really more drivable on the street than the ZO6.
If I were going to track the car I'd probably go for the C6 ZO6 but if I were buying a daily driver I would be perfectly happy with a C7.

We traded in my 02 Z06 on a C7 auto with base suspension. The ride is amazing and transition is not bad either. Excellent daily driver!
We still have the 09 ZR1 for going to the track events.
