Default GM splash guards or Expel?

I know I need to get something to protect my rocker panels, but I'm not sure if I should do the GM splash guards or expel. I was quoted $350 for expel. I know expel will protect the paint, but if it gets chewed up and looks like crap then the splash guards may be better. Opinions from those who have been happy or unhappy with either one would be appreciated.

The car is a ZF1, so big sticky Z51 tires

After ~600 miles I already have marks in the factory protective film, so I went with the GM splash guards from Gene. They just arrived and I plan to put them on in the next couple of days.

I have the GM splash guards front and rear. I put them on about a month after taking delivery (around 1000 miles). I now have 7300 miles on the car and so far the rockers are still pristine. The splash guards do help!

Agreed on having both BUT I have to say I've noticed many hits to the Xpel film that's covering the rockers in front of the rear wheel, even with the GM guards.

I'm thinking side skirts might be the solution for that....

Neither if you really want to solve the problem!
My C7 will be a year old in a few weeks. I installed GM splash guards thinking that would stop the GM plastic (which I do not like) from getting marked by debris. No help for the worst spots on the rocker panel, which are from the center of the door to the front of the rear wheel well! Actually the rear GM splash guards may be useful as I have no dings behind the rear wheels.
Installed LG Motorsports carbon fiber side skirts and that solved the problem for the past ~6 months. Will remove the GM plastic when I get around to it! There are less expensive ones available and in my opinion, where I live, I’d get the straight back type to provide the best protection where it is the most problem. Your option, your choice.

I put the extended GM splash guards on the day I drove the car home, and have been satisfied with how well they cut down on rock chips. The original fender liners did not even come all the way out to the edge of the fender, and the edge of the fender paint was exposed.

When im around town, side skirts and the gm splash guards do the job. When planning a long trip, ill spray the paint areas behond the wheels with clear plastidip, and peel it when I get back home.

What about the rockers in front of the rear wheels? I bet those aren't pristine

Both, plus I also installed RPI's ZR7 Stage II Side Skirts.

Agreed. Although they probably do help I still got a small chip just in front of the rear wheel. However, a little DR Colorchip and it's barely noticeable.

My base car at 1,600 miles has no paint chips. I have seen a few marks on the GM film but they wiped off. I have no splash guards.

I removed the factory plastic on the rocker panel and replaced with Expel when I did the whole front clip of the car along with the rocker panels, door cups, carbon fiber front splitter and side skirts, mirrors and behind the rear wheels. I added the GM spashguards and side skirts and front splitter from Weapon X. I had all of this done immediately following delivery before I started driving the car and to date I don't have a single impact mark on my rocker panels. I highly recommend the side skirts if you are interested in the ultimate protection to your rocker panel area. I feel the GM splash guards provide minimal protection when used solo but provide added protection when combined with the side skirts.
