Default Beware of Exhaust on eBay

I purchased a B&B Gen3 Fusion Exhaust on eBay. The seller stated that it was only used for 100 miles before the original owner decided to keep the originals. I wasn't looking to purchase an exhaust anytime soon, but it was a good price so I purchased the exhaust for $1500.

The exhaust arrived and I had my local dealer install it. That's when the regrets started. First they tell me that the side bar doesn't line up with the mounts on the vehicle. Then they tell me the NPP connector doesn't reach the exhaust. And finally they tell me the left exhaust will not fit no matter how they position it.

I took a look at the exhaust and noticed that there isn't a B&B logo on the exhaust. Mind you that this exhaust pretty much looks exactly like what is displayed on their website. I contacted the seller and he would not take the item back so I am now fighting it. eBay assures me I will get my money back after I send them pictures.

I decided to contact B&B directly and they confirmed that they do put their B&B logo on their exhausts. I assume the seller got swindled at the Carlisle event where he says he originally purchased it from. B&B being such a great company felt my pain and offered to sell me the item for a great price. I took them on their offer and used the new exhaust to compare it to the eBay exhaust. Cost me 100's of dollars just on wasted installation time. Attached are my pics.

Wow! What a great company B&B is! They had no responsibility in this and yet they offered to help you out with a great price. Good to hear there are still great companies like that.

Uh oh.

That weld shows discoloration on a stainless steel weld caused by overheating, which not only affects a material’s color, but degrades its corrosion resistance and mechanical properties as well. Unfortunately, once this error is made, there is nothing that can be done to fix it except for scrapping the part and starting over.

A proper weld on stainless will be straw colored.

Be careful, when the so called real B&B exhaust arrives you may have similar problems as well as check engine lights. Do a forum search and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Actually the 2 exhausts in the middle are the real exhausts I received directly from B&B. The picture iI took with the logo is from the real exhaust. And it was a perfect fit on my car. Going to pickup my car tomorrow.

Ebay is a gamble every time and as a consumer you are never the house so the odds are not in your favor. If it's too good to be true, it probably is. If the price is ridiculously low, it's for a reason. My last piece of wisdom, "cheap price" and "best quality" never belong in the same sentence.

Billy Boat is a great company. They're right here in my back yard. We love their product!

to B&B for helping you out. Surely you paid by CC (maybe through PayPal) so be sure to file a dispute with them.

I just got the email from eBay. They are refunding my money once I ship it back. I have to pay for the shipping because it was an item over $750. So I imagine I lost around $400 with the mechanic trying to make it fit and shipping it back.

Drove for 5 hours and no error codes at all. Switched between all modes and everything sounds and feels great. I do smell a little of the exhaust fumes, maybe needs a tune.

If anyone is interested in making a deal for my original performance exhaust please let me know. I'll post it in the FS section.

***Update*** Pricing for section 3 (catback) will be announced this week.

Well it's about time we had some roar in the shop! There really is no replacement for displacement and though all of our Agency Power exhausts draw a crowd I'm sure everyone's ears perk up at the sound of a healthy V8. The anticipation that came with witnessing this build from start to finished culminated in the biggest ear to ear grin I've had in a long time when we first fired her up. I was taking some video on my phone and on the first rev the camera shook because it startled me a little. This thing is an absolute beast in person and I have to give a huge shout out to our fabrication team for putting together such a clean, meticulously executed system. From the design to the quality to the precision and sound, this exhaust will give all the big shots a run for their money with quality materials at an affordable price. We will be offering this system in 3 sections to suit your wishes and I will be sharing details on when it will become available, price (forum members always get a little extra love there) etc. Check out the video, the snap of those downshifts are downright nasty and you thought Steve Irwin was scared of Stingrays before.... What? Too soon??

Brand new from the Vivid Racing R&D facility is this super meaty exhaust system for the Corvette Stingray C7. Built with our sister company, Agency Powers Longtube Headers and Full Stainless 3″ Exhaust with High Performance Cats gives an unreal growl to the V8 engine. Little queues of awesomeness are found throughout including the headers 1/2″ thick flanges and 1 7/8″ header runners. The 3 inch catalytic converters keep this 6 plus liter engine somewhat eco friendly and the laser cut AP badge is a symbol of quality. Each part of the stainless catback exhaust merges neatly into four 12″ high flow resonators that feature beautiful 4″ titanium tips with the Agency Power logo. The massive stock exhaust weighs about 128lbs where the new AP system weighs only 40lbs complete. This full system of headers and catback exhaust is expected to gain some real serious horsepower and torque numbers soon to be released.
