Report from New Jersey stated that Jimmy Hoffa has the rights to the first ZR1 off the line, beat out Rick Hendricks. Such a shame.

Was the C7 supposed to be mid-engine too?

I heard it was supposed to be aft engine where the engine hung out on a crane behind the bumper.

can anyone here say with any degree certainty that there won't be a mid engine Corvette?

It's coming but its odd that people come in this forum about a month after the rumors and tell us about the rumors.

Nope. Highly unlikely though as it would be priced so much higher that it would be a totally different demographic market for buyers, and would sell a lot less cars.

Based on many decades of front engine, rear wheel drive Vettes and almost as many decades of mid-engine rumors, my money says the C8 won't be mid-engine.

My money does say that as soon as the C8 comes out Car & Driver publishes an article saying the C9 will be mid-engine, followed immediately by at least 10 different threads started here about it.

I'm not saying that the C8 will be mid engined but I'm not saying that there won't be a mid engined Corvette.

BREAKING NEWS: Barrett-Jackson to sell rights to buy first production VIN: #1 2020 mid engine, EV, flying C8 Corvette ZORA. Comes with big foot driver and limited edition stealth paint to avoid police speed traps patrolled by drones.

And yes, new stealth paint will have orange peel.

Don't be silly. It's going to cost $57,995

I've already seen it and driven it.

Oh wait, that was someone else.

Default What if?..

http://www.carbuzz.com/news/2014/9/1...-Mule-7722648/

"We’re honestly not so sure what this is. Even the folks at Motoring Exposure, who snapped these images, are a bit puzzled. Caught testing on the Long Island I-495 freeway the other day is this Chevrolet prototype. Clearly it has Malibu bodywork but the exhaust pipes definitely aren’t typical. GM Authority further noticed that the rear wheels are from a C7 Corvette. The front end is also an unusual thing. Why does that grille only partially cover up what’s behind it? And what could this test mule really be?"

"A Malibu SS? A new Cadillac? Perhaps. Better yet, how about a very early prototype for the rumored 2017 mid-engined Corvette Zora ZR1? We know, we know. It's just another ******** mid-engine Corvette rumor. But that rumor came from reliable sources who claim to have a further inside source at GM. Your guess is as good as ours."

Finally real proof. Those pics should completely stop the speculation.

It's a fact now.

So - rumors never come true? GM has spent a lot of time working on mid engined prototypes - is that all just for show? Tadge has reportedly been working on the concept since before the BK.

Can someone definitively state that there will NOT be a rear mid engined Corvette ever?

I guess the rumors about a V8 engined Corvette back in '55 were false too........... just like the rumors about the re emergence of the Stingray name in 2014...........

Things do change over time, ya know...........

Yeah, so clearly we should speculate about the same rumors after every generation because eventually it'll come true

No, I can definitively state there will be an electric, mid engine, corvette hybrid in 2019 with a flux capacitor so it can fly above traffic and through time so you'll never be late to work again!

That little detail didn't escape me (which is why I decided to toss this morsel over to this forum). It's interesting to say the least...
