GT-R Drivers Reactions to C7
Going to breakfast today with the wife, see a gray GT-R ahead. Get to a red light. GT-R is along side of me. Both of us pole position. Busy boulevard. 45 mph zone. Several cars around us. Road where cops are always setting up speed traps. Told wife nonchalantly, "GT-R is going to do SOMETHING funky, watch". Light turns green. GT-R proceeds to take off from red light like a bat out of hell. Hits 70 mph in about 4 seconds. Top was off my C7, so I gave him the old hand in the air out the top of the car sarcastic, overly dramatic wave goodbye, as I very leisurely pulled away from light.
Coming back from breakfast, matted Black GT-R tailgates me down same boulevard for 2 miles. Too much traffic and I made no effort to speed up or slow down to give him the satisfaction of passing me. Totally ignored him behind me. He never got his wish of getting past me to "show off".
In my opinion NOT a coincidence. Easy to believe BOTH GT-R drivers altered their driving behavior because a C7 was in the vicinity.
My theory is that most GT-R owners must be suffering from lack of attention and somehow feel the need to compensate for their car's lack of "looks" by showing owners of the much easier on the eyes C7 how fast THEIR car is.

Too bad there was no speed trap.

Always someone out there trying to impress you with whatever they have. Nice thing about the C7 is it speaks for itself, looks and power, no need to try and impress the wannabes.

I'm betting they just figure they're near "car people" - and alter their behavior a bit to see if you want to have some fun. That happens to me frequently on the freeway and usually I'm not up for it. I don't particularly care for people who hit seriously excessive speed on a public roadway with others around.

Scraping the splitter.
Being a GT-R owner for about three years, I will say with relative certainty that the GT-R community is shifting. And not in a good way.

My wife and I own a c7 that I drive and a 2013 GTR that she drives primarily. All,I can say is they are two different animals. The c7 is a beautiful muscle car but Godzilla is Godzilla! I agree that the GTR is not a really beautiful car, I have heard them called the fat girl at the prom but it's still fun to watch the Porsche twin turbo guys throw

Out of curiosity, how is the reliability of the 2013 GTR? I heard numerous complains about transmission and launch control.
Thank you.

Apologies to any GT-R owners who are also Corvette owners on here, but I've yet to meet a GT-R owner in person who isn't an utter d**chebag, or at the very least so full of themselves because of their car.
I smile about them for two reasons: 1) if they run into a GT-R fanboy, they're likely to be put in their place by someone who knows more about their car than they do... and 2) I have a friend with a rather unassuming Trans Am who's made two local GT-R owners more than double the cost of their cars and they still can't keep up with him on the open road.
The GT-R in its current form is an ugly thing both in design and ego of its drivers.

Not to sound defensive for the GTRs but I'm sure there's a few C7 drivers who behave the exact same way as those two GTR drivers. There's always a few bad apples in every crowd. I don't like the GTR's appearance but its performance is undeniable.

A high-performance machine like the C7 is far too dangerous (in the wrong hands) to be driving like an idiot. You, sir, did the absolute right thing.
I remember seeing a documentary on Discovery where a guy was filming a full grown African lion. He got very close to the animal. The lion simply looked over, yawned, and looked away. The guy filming said that it was because the lion assessed the "threat" and instinctively knew that he could eliminate that threat in an instant, if he needed to. So, he (the lion) didn't even bother to re-adjust his behavior and just continued "resting".
Your C7 was "the lion" on that day. Well done!

Yup, won't argue your comments at all. I can't completely place what it is about the current GT-R that makes me hate its appearance so much, but it's performance is definitely a milestone to aim for / knock down.

The GT-R is just a very quick and precise car. It's amazing what this 4000lb car with a V6 does. Especially considering it's a 2008 model and very long in the tooth now, but still being compared to new models. The aftermarket for the car is just crazy expensive compared to the C7. The car get's way too much attention for me, not very enjoyable. It could be there are very few on the road compared to other mass produced sports cars where I live.
The C7 is one of the best driving and riding cars I have been in. Again, the Mag ride is awesome and I usually pick the C7 when I get out for a quick ride. The stock LT1 is great and love the torque it makes, but for speed and putting the power on the ground, they are two different cars. The interior between both I would put on par with each other. Each have pro and cons in my opinion. I love the riding position in the C7 as compared the the GTR, more like a true sports car. Aftermarket for the C7 is not expensive coming from the GTR world, really like this aspect as well. When I say aftermarket, I mean just any part.
Both are great cars and as a car guy I think they deserve respect for what they both do well.
.. Will also post a pic of both cars as I am proud of them both.

Driving home in my C7 with my wife from the Kerbeck Toys for Tots on the Atlantic City Expressway towards Philly there were a large number of Corvettes, all years, doing the same. Very few doing more than 10 over the posted 65 limit. A white GTR in the left lane must have been doing 80-90 going our way. Bet he got his jollies off with so many Corvette "victims" he passed including some ZR1s left in his dust.
