Exactly. Thank you. Just trying to understand the CC, it's pluses and minuses. Minor convenience. Possibly a minor cost.
Overall, I'm ecstatic with my C7, and ecstatic that it gets about 5MPG better than my beloved C6 on the highway: 34 vs 29.
Around town, who cares. It's a muscle car when I want it to be and, yes, an econo "box" when I'm cruisin. One hell of an econobox, I might add.
Remember, Chevy added an Eco mode. I, for one, am glad they did. Along with all the other great things they added to this fabulous car.

I have yet to use Econo mode on mine, and probably never will.

That absolutely does not happen on my Pontiac G8GT which has a 6 liter LS and 6-speed auto. Throttle closes and the car coasts downhill gaining speed. Doubt it is any different on the C7 but haven’t had an occasion to observe that. Don

the CC in my mercedes does use the brakes if I reduce the set speedy drastically but I have not found the vette to use it.

I have owned a great many corvettes and ment no harm to anyone.
You confirm that the German cars probably use the brake as part of the cruise control system.
I feel that system can overheat the brakes on steep mountain descents.

Speak first and check your facts later? Or you just don't care whether your "facts" about other people are really facts or just spew?

Hopefully no one will refer to you as an idiot as I was referred to. The second one was I was rich and did not use the correct slang for a Corvette.

It uses the brakes when I specify a change from 80 to say, 65 in a rapid manner. One has more control over CC changes in a Merc and it wants to adjust to your input as quickly as possible, it doesn't coast down slowly in that case.
Overheating brakes with cruise control would be something GM forgot to think about....not Benz.
And yes, I do love my Corvette.....does it even have cruise control, wtf???

I can consistently get better mileage from my car using the cruise control than keeping my foot on the gas pedal.

Brakes
Ever hear of a "JAKE BRAKE"???????????????????????
It slows the vehicle, does not apply the "BRAKES"
get better gas mileage with cruise control on. Living in New Jersey, there is no such thing as good mileage. Traffic, pot holes, *** holes texting, makes driving enjoyable.

I don't know if CC actually improves fuel mileage, but I have noticed that when I'm on the interstate in Touring Mode CC does a better job of keeping the car in V4 mode even while holding the speed rock steady.

Conclusion: CC is a minor convenience which helps gas mileage on level or uphill stretches. It can, however, hurt gas mileage on hilly or downhill stretches.

Yeah, you can play games and “work” the system on hills. Don

I'm no technical expert, but, according to others on this thread, when going downhill, CC uses engine compression to slow you down to maintain set speed, potentially hurting gas mileage.

Since my Pontiac G8GT with a pretty similar drivetrain never brakes using CC on downhills and just speeds up, I strongly suspect the C7 is the same way. CC works. Don
