That is factory, it is the latest in weather strip sealing technology. If a gap develops in the seal the sealing snake dynamically relocates in order to prevent leakage and noise. Obviously the supplier ran short of the proper color because normally they blend in and cannot be seen.

The only drawback of this technology is this special sealing device sometimes sheds its outer layer in order to expand to accommodate a larger gap so the owner may have to detail the interior to remove the old outer layer. Female passengers sometimes object to finding the old outer layer and may refuse to ride until this high tech sealing device is removed and properly disposed.

I'd be half tempted to burn my C7 to the ground after seeing that...

That's one reason I always put the top on and close the windows. Well that and rats, mice, possums etc. Better to keep them all outside.

Ugh! I hate snakes, and that's one fear I have leaving it out at night.

Ha! I can top that...My 2014 got infested with Fire Ants one night. Opened the passenger car door up in the morning, and hundreds of fire ants coming out of the passenger door, from under the Corvette door sill and engine compartment. Took 3 days before they were all gone.

Found a fire ant pile at the edge of the driveway after the latest rain storm, and at night, they must have went for higher ground...in the vette.
