Default Backup Camera Quality?

Does anyone else feel that the backup cameras quality is a piece of ****? This has worse quality than my $100 after market backup camera that I have on my Camry My sisters CLA which is almost 1/2 the price of my vette has a hd quality backup camera. If you pay like 70k for a car shouldn't the small stuff like the quality of the camera be good?

I feel it works better than the one in my C6. So your aftermarket backup camera has projection lines as well.

I don't see the bu cam is any worse or better than any of the high end cars I'm in a lot now, BMW, Benz, lexus. Its a BU cam, i dont need it to be more resolution than what I see now..

It works fine for me. I don't understand why someone would want to see what's behind them, when backing up only, in HD anyways. Maybe HD video would be good if it was always on and functioned like a rear view mirror. Its clear enough for me. Maybe you should clean the camera lens?

It has lines but does move.

I guess it's just me trying to adjust to it since I'm so used to something better.

I have 3 other cars, '12+ BMW, Ram and Jeep. The camera quality is about the same on all of them. I just wish you could see the edges of bumper better, its as good as it can be for where its mounted I guess. Certainly better than no camera at all..

I will upload a pic later, just to see if everyone sees what I see to make sure there is no defects in mine.

It's a backup camera... Totally adequate IMHO. Maybe you need to give the lens cover a wipe.

It is just to see if something is close behind you. How good does it have to be?

I thought mine was messed up and was convinced when I first used it that there was a protective covering over it. That was not the case.

I agree with everyone that it gets the job done fine. I just expected better since that technology has gotten so much cheaper in the last several years. The PDR camera is not great either for that matter.

So would it easy to replace the camera with a better one without having to cut or mod it?

Nor does my '14 Taurus, but then again it was only $34k MSRP

Love how you can set one, both, or neither outside mirrors in my 3LT C7 to tilt down when in reverse.

I test drove a 2014 Impala and the camera was about the same as our 2011 Lincoln except the Impala's lines moved when you turn which is a nice feature. However, the image quality on both the Lincoln and Impala leave a lot to be desired. They are very low resolution and hard to see if there are objects behind you which is the reason for the camera.....no?. I would also like to see an HD quality back-up camera.

The camera saved me from running over my clean up kit, put the car in reverse and there it was. The resolution is good enough to prevent hitting objects/children behind you. From experience, it works.

Default Solution:

Attach a 54 inch OLED or 4K technology screen resolution panel to the windshield.
Problem solved.
