Default PDR Track Videos from Blackhawk Farms (10/11/14)

Enjoyed a nice track day with the Chicagoland North Corvette Club at Blackhawk Farms this past Saturday. Here are a few videos from the PDR (everyone LOVES this thing), but first I discovered that once I set the start/finish line on my first lap, the system remembered it all day (I didn't have to keep marking it). I wonder if it will remember it forever?

First video was the second of five sessions, tires were still cold and I left the PTM in Dry just to be safe while the track warmed up (we started at 8 a.m. at about 35 degrees!). The guy you'll see pass me had an A6 and I don't believe he had PTM. He later complained that the first time out, the Stabilitrack was too intrusive, so he turned it off for the second session. He also said his transmission overheated.

Next video is my best lap of the day. I started cold around 1:30-1:33, then got down to the 1:22 mark around sessions 3-4. During the last session, I had my best time of 1:20 :

I'd like the ones that say the PDR is just a Gopro to see this.

Cool. Can't wait to get mine out on the track. That is a really nice track layout. Looks like a lot of fun. The guy in front of you looks to have ordered the Z71 package! At least he missed that wall of tires.

The Stingray does resemble the Mach 5 from inside, doesn't it?

A gopro looks better. Why does the PDR look like it's been washed in dirty toilet water?

Was that a DSOM in front of you in the first video?

I'm told that that guy in the red C7 went off track 5 or 6 times that day, when I came around 3A he was sideways in the middle of the track, luckily I had seen the yellow flag out of the corner of my eye and
had slowed. Those Z51 tires that were so awesome in July and August
were sure greasy in October, especially in the morning. I don't think I got mine really hot until the last two sessions and then I discovered I had too much air in them, I couldn't do anything, them dropped 3 pounds out of each tire and wow I had grip. Sure wish my 14 had the PDR, it is fantastic, but yeh the Gopro video is greater quality, even if a pain in the *** to operate.

Default Pdr

Is the PDR shooting thru the highly tinted part of the windshield? That would account for the tint of the video. Comparing the PDR to the
Gopro is silly, the PDR has so much more data to present.

I admit it's not as clear as a GoPro, and it's only 720p while I shoot in 1080p at 60fps with my GoPros, but the ease of use and the data are what really shine on the PDR. Plus, you can watch what just happened on the track in about 2 seconds in the paddock. I wouldn't be surprised if Chevy improves the quality for '16 and beyond. They could also trim the blackout on the windshield better to avoid the vignetting at the top corners, but that is a minor complaint. I would also like to see the software be able to extract the data overlay from the video so you could edit the PDR video together with other video from different cameras taken at the same time. That way, the data would be on screen continuously no matter which camera was selected.

Huge improvement in your last run. You were turning in too late on almost every corner on the first.

I'd say you still have a good 1-2 seconds more you could get out of it not including taking out the few times you slid around.

2nd corner out of the straight could have turned in a bit earlier and the sweeper after the first corner off the straight could have carried more speed. Your turn in to the first corner off the straight was near perfect, duplicate that on the 2nd corner and you would have set yourself up for more speed through the sweeper.

You obviously picked it up fast and with a few tweaks could run quite a bit quicker.

Glad you enjoyed it but track looks a bit too narrow for me and lots of stuff to hit off track.

It is definitely a small, tight track, hard on brakes with little cool down runs. I wonder if it wasn't originally developed as a motorcycle or go cart track?
