Default Bigger Rear Tires and Wheel Offset?

Ok, I don't want to start another argument about C6 vs C7.

I only want to know what size wheels do I need on my C7 to be able to run Drag Radials in 335s or 345s and what offset wheel?

I saw pics of tires up to (I think) 375's? I'm not looking for that - I only want to put larger size Drag Radials on my car, possibly even a smaller diameter rear wheel to get a taller sidewall but not have to grind this or weld that to make it work.

Anyone?

The racers are using the C5 Zo6 18X10.5 wheel on all four corners I see no reason you can't use slicks on them.

I have seen c7's on you tube wearing c5z wheels with slicks

Great suggestion. I will definitely look into that.

A small consideration, wider tire look meaner and are "cooler". Just keep in mind that many Corvette guys are running faster on narrower DRs.

Is this about looks or max performance? I'm not trying to be a smart a$$.

It's more about performance than looks but looks are a big part of it. I think the wide stance of the car needs a wider rear footprint regardless but that is just my own personal opinion. Not a criticism, just a subjective opinion.

i have wasted much time, money looking for that magic setup for autocross. it looks like you have a non-z51 like myself so i will start there. the c5 z06 wheels 17x9.5 look, fit great on the front-the 295/35/17 work, look the best, i have 315/35/17 on now and they rub a little( no damage yet) i will go with 295's if i stay with 17's up front next time. i also ran/run the c5 z06 18x10.5 up front with 315/30/18's on them and had no trouble at all, they are shorter than the 315/35/17( trust me on this) NOW THE REAR!! i have had nothing but trouble back there using the c5z06 18x10.5 wheels with 315/30/18's tires before i put the z51 shocks and sway bars on. i think its better now but i cant swear to it sence i dont have a inner lip on my rear fenders anymore! i tryed 335/30/18's on same wheels and you get the picture. if i started over i would use a 305 back there with 295's up front. enough of that, the rear inner fender lips have me so sick that i bought two wheels from ben@weaponx that are the factory offset(+78) and 11 inches wide that i will use with the 315/30/18's, that way when i chase the 8auto in the 2015 my inner lips will be fine.

So it sounds like 305's or 315s on the 18's would be a good choice? That's fine because I'm not married to the idea of the lawnroller 335's or 345's. I just want to hook with a good tire. I'm looking to trade my '14 7M for a new '15 8 Auto and am looking forward to trying the new trans.

You really need to be careful changing the wheel OD as it affects your effective rear final drive ratio but also larger OD isn't always better depending upon how much HP you have. 500+hp N/A and blower cars can benefit from larger OD tires but cars with less HP really need more rear gearing to take advantage of that or a high stall converter to get the car into the power band. It's different with a car with a PD blower because you have torq for days off the line. If you go up in OD on a tire and don't have the HP to support it, you're going to find yourself rolling out of the hole slower unless you're dumping a manual clutch to get it there and then you'll have new problems lol

Shoot me a PM if I can help you with wheel/tire setup

You are right about the overall OD but wheel OD is irrelevant to effective final drive ratio as long as the tire/wheel package overall OD remain the same as stock, right? Or am I thinking wrong?

I do not want to change the overall OD (tire height) just increase sidewall amount. To do that I believe I would need a smaller wheel diameter and a higher aspect ratio for sidewall height, such as a 40 series versus a 30, etc.

I will shoot you a PM.
