Default Extended warranty

At time of delivery, Dealer will offer you an extended warranty up to 84 months/54k miles, bumper> bumper. Cost is about $2400.00. Does anyone know about this? Good deal or not? Anyone priced it against other pgms?
Would love to hear from you guys cause I need to know NOW!! Taking delivery Nov3rd at the NCM and doing paperwork today. Thanks...

I bought one the tire and wheel one as well. I already have a curb mark on my right rear wheel and it is being repaired at no cost to me and I am happy I have them both.

I bought a tire warranty from Discount Tire and an extended warranty from Fichtner, send them an email for pricing... you will not be disappointed.

The extended warranty runs concurrently with your OEM warranty, so you're paying for "double coverage"...
suggest waiting to buy the GMPP extended warranty right before the 3-yr/36K mi. warranty portion expires.

To extend on Gary's post above, just make sure to leave yourself about 1/2 to 1 month before your current bumper to bumper (3/36) warranty expires to buy an "extended warranty". The expiration of your existing 3/36 is based on the car's inservice date which may not be the same as the day you bought it---so check first and keep the date somewhere in a file. Miss it by a week and the "extended warranty" will cost you more, quite a bit more.

When you buy it, don't get it from your selling dealer (unless they happen to be one of the forum dealers that offer significantly discounted prices on the extended warranties).

The tire / wheel warranty does not cover curb marks, scrapes on the side of the wheels etc . This is what I was told when I purchased the wheel/tire extended warranty from the dealer. Is you wheel mark being repaired or is it your belief that it will be under the warrenty ?
Also if you have a tire losing air and they see a mark or scrape on the wheel they use that to deny a claim. Happened to a friend .

So the bottom line is NOT to buy it now but wait 3 years correct?

You should check the pricepoints (based on mileage). It may be cheaper overall to buy just before your car turns 24K.

It's still better than spending $2,400 for 3 years/36K miles you'll NEVER use. NEVER

Someone here on the forum recently told me the best deal is to wait until you have just12 months/12,000 miles on the car, then buy the 84 month plan. The prices are supposed to much cheaper that way and you still net an extra 60 months of coverage...

I bought my warranty @ 11951 miles. The car is less then a year old. I purchased 7yr 84,000 mile warranty( from a Non Forum dealer) So, my car is warrantied to 95,951 miles. I have a $100 deductible. Price $1,650. I looked in to buying it during the second year, but the numbers made more sense to buy it now Hope this helps

CORRECT! Wait! You said you were offered an 84 mo/54K mile warranty for $2,400.

What you would actually be getting is 48 mo / 18K miles EXTENDED because your original 36 mo / 36K miles will take care of everything.

When I had approximately 1 month of my original warranty left (I had plenty of miles left) I bought a 48 mo / 48K extended GMPP from Dennis Fitchner for $2,000. I think by the time everything was processed I had about two weeks of overlap.

Also, please, please don't buy a 3rd party extended warranty. I've heard a few good stories about them but, for the most part, they aren't worth the paper they are written on.

Good luck!

Thanks this has been very helpful for me too. My arrival is supposed to be on or around Nov 5th and I hate spending over an hour hearing about all the insurance policies that a buyer must buy. I will pass on them all and get the extended from Ken in 2 years.
Great advice gentlemen.

I bought GMPP from the internet. They started the warranty on mileage and the day I bought it. Told that if you bought within 12M/12,000M it was priced as a new car. If you go beyond 12M/12,000M the price goes up. (Someone correct this if wrong.) I waited till I was through our summer driving season and had about 5k miles on it before I pulled the trigger. Figure I got an extra year of summer driving this way, and prices change on 10/1. GM's deal with Ally (GMPP) ends in Nov 2016. I priced both plans, and the best price I got was the GMPP. Reportedly the GM warranty will cover the shocks on MSC, but I have also been told that GMPP will as long as it is an electrical and not a shock leak. $1,140 for Major Guard, 72M/48K/0$.

"GM’s new F&I products will compete directly with those from Ally (formerly GMAC), which offers extended-service contracts under the GM Protection Plan brand that it licenses from The General, and to which it holds rights until November 2016, according to an Ally spokesperson. Outside of extended-service contracts, Ally’s Auto Dealer Products & Services unit offers prepaid maintenance, GAP, lease wear-and-tear coverage, tire-and-wheel, anti-theft protection, appearance protection, and dent-repair."

Be very careful when you buy. I have also been told that once your VIN has purchased a insurance contract (Extended Warranty), and you cancel, you will not be able to buy another one (assume from same company) on that VIN. So don't let the dealer sell you with the understanding that if you don't like in 30 days you can cancel. I did that once and it took months to get my money back. I bought another contract, from the selling company (Toyota, I had a 3rd party contract with their distributor, Gulf State Toyota, that they tried to tell me was comparable, but it wasn't. Toyota has since changed their policy, and you now have to buy their extended warranty from a dealer in the state you are in. This is Anti Trust to me, but the dealers love it.)
