The FOB is a lower powered transmitter and there are many devices that will over power it. The car needs about thirty seconds of good signal to retract the top, any disruption in signal will stop the retraction cycle. If the area you are located might have radio interference, use the interior hard wired switch. I personally have not noticed any problem, I have remotely cycled the top only four times.

W/O going back and reading all posts from this and the original thread, do they know why it did this, was it a remote issue, or a combo using the remote and then the button in the car itself?
I've used the remote dozens of times, many times it has "stalled" and I've had to restart the sequence (usually due to signal interference--from a passing car or not "aiming" well enough). A few times early on, I completed opening it from the car itself. I put the top down today, and had to restart it twice (due to cars driving past), and was very leery of not completing it via remote.

I understand why they want an owner to be within visual contact.
I'd hate to inadvertently start the sequence to lower the top and not know it, only to come out the next morning, or even an hour later and find out that the inside is rained out, or heaven only knows what is missing from the inside.
The point of the OP was that somewhere in the sequence, something went horribly wrong, and things got lowered and raised in the wrong order, causing a dangerous situation.
I hope that whatever has caused this to malfunction was fixed as well as the cosmetic damage.

7 long months and things are starting to get done
Yes, and I'm still hoping this window shattering was a one-off, and not something wide-spread.

Kinda spooky reading about a failure. I watch the thing going up and down and am amazed every time that it actually works. It's freakin voodoo.
It's also amazingly solid when it's up. Smack it sometime...

If you think "cloth" tops are amazing, watch some of those "metal" roofs going up and down, and look at the arms, braces, etc. Talk about wonderment!

At a recent car outing, we found that other C7's operating their fob for top will disrupt your operation. Friend was doing his and I started mine, and his quit. I have just resolved to only do mine from the inside dash switch.

I'm glad they are fixing your issue. One thing I have noticed when lowering my vert top remotely is, if someone else is also using their fob to lower their C7 top close by, both signals cancel each other out and both tops stop moving until one stops pressing the button. This has been repeated many times by us.

Let's not overlook that this happened around August of last year. There are plenty of convertible owners on this and other sites, and this is the ONLY case of this I've seen reported. I don't think it's a chronic problem.

Wow guys. Such bitching and complaining and speculating. Mechanical things can go wrong. GM is fixing an unusual problem. People sound like every vert is going to hell. I have a C7 vert. I guess this guy's problem should keep me up at night. What if it happened to me. Maybe the world will come to an end. take a deep breath. We are a tiny sample of the vets out there.

Did I miss something? This happened last year, the new top was received last year, but it is only now being installed along with several body parts? Did the whole car explode? Are there any before and after pictures? I ask because I am not only curious but I am leaning towards a C7 vert upgrade. Thanks!
