Default First drive!! :-)

Always wanted a vette. Believe it or not...I've never driven one, until yesterday.

Drove a stock M7 then a Z51 A8. Loved them both! I've been all over this forum listening to you fine gentlemen...and ladies...about your stories, likes, dislikes...etc. Perhaps it's good I'm coming from ZERO experience on driving any vette. The only high performance comparison I can make is driving my 2014 Jeep SRT...which is an auto8. 470hp and 470tq. and a very nice performer given it's size and weight. 0-60s around 4.2-4.8 and sure doesn't corner like a big SUV. You Cayenne drivers and some newer BMW X5 drivers are familiar with SUV sporty performance.

The last time I drove a manual was in 2007 in a 1990 Nissan Maxima. Piloting the C7 M7..It was kinda like riding a bike. I was a little sloppy in first gear, but the rest were good...tho I did get lost a time or two looking for 2nd and 4th...no biggie, I know I'd learn the "map" quickly.

regarding clutch pedal movement...I KNOW I was probably giving more "pedal press" than was needed...how far do I really need? Can I go "heal/toe"? My old Maxima needed some further pedal throw. I imagine the C7 doesn't need much.

The A8 was smooooth. I left it in touring mode. Barely noticed the shifts. As I posted in another thread...I'll drive both again before I order my C7 and give the A8 a more spirited drive.

My C7...when I order it...will be SG, 2LT Z51, Carbon mirrors/spoiler, Black rims, yellow calipers and either black or gray interior. I just need to figure out the tranny. I'm hardly ever in stop/go traffic. I don't have a normal 9-5er job...so the M7 and traffic isn't a deal breaker.

The test drive was good...and bad. Cause now I really can't wait to sit down and start checking off boxes of options. hehehe. I truly look forward to sharing stories fellas. And I'll post many pics of her when she is finally born and brought home. haha. And of course, along side her bigger sibling...the SRT in similar colors.

The bad part is the wife has a heavy foot too...and very competitive. So, eventually, if you're in ATL on I285 or I20 and a pair of gray streaks go by you...we're just out taking the horses for a run.

You've been bitten by the Corvette bug. The only cure is to get one.

(Warning - Boring) I ordered a new '67 Coupe - dark green/tan interior- then we became parents-to-be. I suggested we get a trailer or side car, but was rebuffed.
Fast forward to the other day - ordered a new C7. Different spouse; children obviously grown, but desire still there after more than 40 years. Driving my oldest friend's '14 Stingray didn't hurt. Will require teenager to translate infotainment system.
Bucket lists are great.

Not hard to want a Vette after driving one. Best of luck to you in deciding on the tranny and in ordering your car.

Yep, you got it. Go to Chevrolet.com, build one, then go see your Chevy dealer. The longer you wait the worse it gets.
