Default Ordered the new Vette today.

It's been 6 years since I sold my 2009 Vette and I'm really liking the new C7, so I put in a special order today.

First of all I bought the car from Joe Classic (https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...oeclassic.html) on this site from Classic Chevrolet off Southwest Fwy and Highway 90. If you look at Classics ads in the Chronicle, you will notice they have money off the Vette in the ad.

I love the Laguna Blue color which is real close to the color of my 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP, so this is the color I ordered. I also got the carbon flash package and carbon flash mirrors and rear spoiler. That plus the rims are also black. Pic at the bottom is real close to the car I ordered, picture taken from this site. The interior is black.

The car is a LT1 coupe with the Z/51 package. The other options are auto transmission and the performance data and video recorder/navigation system.

So at this very moment I'm at status 1100-Preliminary Order Accepted.

Let the waiting begin.

Here are two pictures, the first is close to what the car will look like, the other of my Stryker Blue G8 GXP. I hope the owner of the blue Vette doesn't mind me posting a picture of his car.

I got schooled on all of this tonight. I have a copy of the schedules and know about the gmtracking site. According to Joe, the allocations are OK and I have full faith in him.

about how long did they say the wait will be? What was your reasoning behind getting the 1LT but with Z51? Only reason I am asking is because I am contemplating an order myself.
Things like the carbon dash, splash guards, floor mats.....all making my head spin and wallet thin!

The tracking site is Vague, the order number is used to get the report below.. The dealer can give you a "workbench report"...every day if you want it. When that report says 2000 as a code, gm is building you a car. Until then, chevy does not know you. Do some reading here.

Ask joe for this every monday

According to Joe the wait will be around 8 weeks, however there may be a bit longer delay with the holidays coming up.

The reason for the 1LT is because there was nothing I felt was worth the extra $4,000 or so dollars for the 2LT.

When I take delivery I will get the windows tinted and splash guards installed. There are other places to buy things such as floor mats and stuff like that without paying the price Chevy wants.

And what was the main reason for choosing Z51 over the F51 Appearance package?
That's another dilemma of mine at the moment....

I did the same as member/poster OLDGOAT".

I built the car myself starting with the 1LT package and worked up...

Torch Red
Torch Red Removable one piece top
Adrenlene Red GT Seats
8 Speed Auto Trans
Multi-note Exhaust
Yellow Calipers
Z51 Appearance Pkg

My price: $56,920
MSRP; $60,505

I felt the same as the OP. It is so easy to add lots of extras that will suffer quick depreciation within the first 2 years, thereafter it will slow. I didn't need the HUD, or Nav system. Neat gadgets yes, but not worth the extra $$ to me.

I wanted the car to look hot, be a head turner and that is what I achieved. I won't track the car, but enjoy my first Vette at age 62. Finally!

Expected delivery mid to late Jan 2015 to New Mexico.

There's more to it than that. The best way to look at the LT2 and 3 packages are the value you get on sale day from them. The 1LTs will have several thousands of dollars and strikes against them in deductions on trade-in value / sale day. My Chevy dealer said the 1LTs were just not that popular when it came to him reselling them, thusly, he'd diminish their value when they came back to him.

That will be a great car for you. Hopefully in a few days you will see a code 2000 and you will be on your way. 7 weeks start to finish for me, earlier this year.

That timeline sounds about right. Ordered mine on the Sept 3rd, car was off loaded at dealer on Oct 24th.

Your 1LT reasoning was the same as mine. I went Auto, Navi/PDR, and Carbon Flash badging, and machine faced wheels. (SG exterior). I couldn't justify a Z51 package since I'm never going to race this car. Nothing on the 2LT that I wanted that wouldn't needlessly inflate the price (since I'd still be paying extra for the Auto and Navi/PDR).

I added splash guards when I took delivery at the dealer, ordered a nice set of Lloyd s cargo and floor mats (outstanding products and much nicer than the GM offerings). Also added the clear plastic sill protectors (get these, they fit great and will save your sills from scuffs- maybe not your scuffs, but passenger and or mechanics foot dragging).

I'll probably get a rear window tint eventually as that seems to be the biggest heat gatherer and carpet fader.

Congrats on your selection.

Also read about constraints. Z51 is constrained at 50%. You don't mention which roof, but even the standard roof is constrained at 35% and the visible Carbon Fiber roof is constrained at 20%. Only the transparent roof is not constrained. Check out the Constraint Reports sticky thread.

Thanks to Glen e for the information on the work bench order. The GM site is very vague, but is a starting point for those who ordered their car, but their salesman isn't as informed as is Joe (who is also a supporting vendor here).

Yes Woodson, I did read post #5 again.........many times.

I got with Joe at Classic Chevrolet (https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...oeclassic.html) and will receive an update (work bench order) by email every Thursday, which will keep me from bothering him by phone. As of right now, I'm at 2000, and according to Joe will be at 3000 within the week..

I appreciate the information on the tracking order. As already mentioned, I asked Joe what one day a week was best for him and he told me Thursday.

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival.

For my own benefit and maybe to others who special order their new Vettes, I'm using this thread as a means to keep up with the order and have some sort of recorded time line to see how long it takes.

The 2LT and 3LTs are bargains but the 1LT is an outstanding bargain!!!!! Why spend money on items you don't want and/or you can pick up easily on the aftermarket like an excellent GPS????

Good move OP!!!
