Default Oh Marissa...from GM Customer Service

Hi Marissa, hope you are well, on post #26 here you answered a question about WHEN we can get the free oil changes.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1587761381

Now one final question: WHAT kind of oil does each model get?

I'm going to guess that Z51 and z06 cars get Mobil1, and the non z51 gets dexos approved semi syn oil? In other words, a base owner can be charged an upgrade charge if he wants Mobil 1??

Thanks!

*edit - the below info may or may not be correct per the following posts*

Base and Z51 get ACDelco semi-synthetic 5W-30 Dexos1 oil. Mobil 1 is no longer factory-fill. No clue about the Z06 yet, but I'm guessing it'll get the same as the others.

If that's true, then Mobil one better get this video off their site, as they claim that ALL CORVETTES get Mobil 1 as a factory fill.

As per the work order my Z51 got ACDelco Semi-Synthetic 5W-30 Dexos1 as the free stuff. I could have paid extra for Mobile1.

Not according to ExxonMobil and a slew of recent press releases. GM needs to get their act together and clear this up.

From a recent press release

http://www.motorsportspark.org/exxon...orsports-park/

With a factory-fill relationship that began in 1993, ExxonMobil has a legacy of helping Corvette engines perform at their maximum with Mobil 1 lubricant technology. The fully synthetic motor oil also serves as factory-fill for the Corvette Stingray with the Z51 Performance Package and the highly anticipated 2015 Corvette Z06.

Same.

Talk about confusion!!! Yet another thing that GM needs to clear up and get the correct info into the hands of the dealership.

And, as mentioned in a prior post, the owners manual says in part, "Corvette recommends Mobil 1 in dry sump models." My dealer wanted to upcharge me $30.00 for Mobil 1 and then I took out my owners manual and showed them the above sentence. Rather than argue with me, they just did the Mobil 1 with no upcharge fee. But this still needs to be addressed by GM and a bulletin sent out to all the dealers so this issue is cleared up.

My dealer told me that it was my choice. So, at the first oil change I switched over to Mobil 1 at no additional charge. '14 Z51 M7 vert.

Drove my new C7 home just yesterday. My dealer said that all four gratis oil changes will include Mobil 1 full synthetic at no extra charge. I do wish that was what's in the car from the factory though.

yeah, they do somewhere....because there is a corporate warranty admin clerk somewhere in the system approving the RO from the dealer on the mobil 1 vs the VIN...now the question is what's his /her ruling?

Hi Guys,

A thread with my name in the title? You really know how to get a gals attention! I checked the official guidelines for the 2 year/24,000 mile maintenance plan, and your owners manual. On page 11-12 in the 2014 manual there is a chart stating: "Use only engine oil licensed to the dexos1® specification of the proper SAE viscosity grade. ACDelco dexos1 Synthetic Blend is recommended. For track events or competitive driving, use Mobil 1® engine oil. See Engine Oil on page 10-10."

I did try and dig for more specifics, but was unable to come up with much more. I apologize if this isn't hitting your exact inquiry!

My 2014 manual agrees with the above. 5W-30 Dexos1 recommended, Mobil 1 15W-50 recommended for track events.

Marissa - understand we want to know what the dealers are doing...there is all sorts of manuals and ads that say one thing and dealers are doing another....some are giving it away free, some are charging, it is very frustrating...just look at the responses here as to what dealers are doing, there is no universal procedure in dealer land...

Hey Glen,

If you're still within the maintenance plan time/mileage, and you haven't had all four oil changes performed you shouldn't be charged. I am happy to look into this on an a case-by-case basis for any of you guys!

I also saw your post on the other forum, and will be getting there shortly!

To Glen's point and pointed out by rotherd31, here it is in black and white what the manual says recommending Mobil 1 for dry sump (Z51) cars:
