Default How to get out of park

The new C7 is now parked for the winter, on keyed cars just putting the ignition in the run position you can move the trans into neutral. On the vette A8 auto, how can the trans be put into neutral without starting the engine. I like to move the car a little to avoid flat spots.

Tnx

Don't know but I never bothered. Just always inflated to 40psi and had no flat spot problems.

Try turning the car on by pressing and holding the start button for several seconds without depressing the brake. Be patient, it takes several seconds.

Thanks for this info! About 2 months ago I woke up early on the weekend and wanted to wash my car so I wanted to roll it into the driveway so I didn't wake up anybody else in the house and I could not figure out how to do this. This is good info

Did you try it? I don't know for sure if it will work. I don't have an automatic to verify.

Yes, thanks much. When it is cloudy out, I like to roll the car out, wash it and then drive it back in. Didn’t know how to get the car out of park w/o starting it. Don

There is a diagnostic mode that you can put the car in. I use it to move them around and to demonstrate all of the features without having to actually start the car. This is what they are talking about above.

Hold the start button for 5 seconds, the car will ding and all of the systems will light up. At that point everything works in the car as though it is running, without actually starting.

Mine takes closer to ten seconds, so don't give up!

Don't you need to include "while NOT depressing the brake pedal"?

I always heard don't move an automatic in neutral.I know towing an automatic I believe Ya have to disconnect the driveshaft. This is on A non Vette.I wouldn't tow A vette.
I guess moving in A few feet don't hurt it.

Check your manual. Most automatics have a over ride button close to the shifter that allows you to shift to neutral (a small plunger, etc. to press with a screw driver). This is used if the engine/battery is dead and you need to move the car.
