Default So, I walked into this bar

We just arrived at our winter home in Naples Fl. this afternoon, took care of the immediate needs and decided to go to our favorite watering hole for a couple drinks and some food. There was a nice man sitting next to us, so we struck up a conversation. Guess what, the conversation went to cars and he has a new C7 coupe. What's the chances of that? Two guys in a bar sitting next to each other with new Corvettes. Life is good.

Stopped by a local vendor this morning to pick up some parts on the way in to work, guy behind the counter said hi and asked how I'm liking the C7. Customer he was with turned and said "oh, you've got one too?" Had a great chat with him while our parts were being collected.

In my part of the world I hardly ever see one on the road, much less meet an owner in a bar!

Default My God, what kind of car is that...

So I'm leaving the Dr's office today trying to beat traffic. Started the Z51 from about 40 meters away so I could get going (I didn't see anyone in the area cause I hate show off's). Anyway, as I approach the car I see this older lady standing near and staring at the Vette. Lady: Young Man (I'm 52) is that your car? Me: Yes ma'am, why? Lady: I think there's something wrong with it, it seems to have started itself... Me: Yes ma'am, it does that sometimes... Me: Windows down, driving off with a smile and a wave. Lady: (wondering aloud) Mein Gott, what kind of car is that?

Can you even see the road(s) in your part of the world (I'm a former Buffalonian)?

Default Yes. I know it's the car...

but it's still nice to be noticed by pretty young ladies ( I'll be 70 next month). One took our picture as we were parked making a phone call. Talked to another at the gas station filling her C6 - said she loved my C7 and was going to trade ASAP .
Having fun!

You just never know when you'll run into another Vette owner.

my manager wanted to see my car so as we were walking up to it, i stayed back a little and let her get nearer to the car, used my keyfob to remote start the car. i think she jumped back like 10 feet and went 'holy cow, that is awesome'. she really liked the V8's rumbling sound

was walking across a parking lot a few months ago and a guy came running out of one of the store fronts and said -

him: "I saw you go by and man your car sounds great. I have one too but it does not sound like that"
Me: "really? - is that your Premiere edition right there?"
Him: "yeah" is that what they call that car?"
me: Yup and your can sound just the same"
Him: "wha?"

so I jump in his car and take it out of touring, and put it in sport and the NPP comes alive, he never knew what the drive mode **** did, was told by his dealer to "never mess with it"...

he goes nuts.....Like I've always said -outside the forums in the real life people don't know what they buy and don't read the manual....

OP. What bar in Naples?

I was in Naples for a week of vacation the end of last February. We had a great time and Naples is a nice town to visit. Plan on going back next February or March.

We live near the intersection of Collier (951) and Immokalee Rd. So Zookies Sports Bar is very close and is good and prices are very reasonable.

Anyway, we inveribly pass a couple of Amish open buggys with teenage boys driving their one horsepower vehicle (sic). They always point at us and give an excited wave. We always return the favor. Just like between us Corvette fans.

Being it's Naples, I'm surprised it wasn't a Ferrari.

Seriously, very cool encounter. Enjoy the winter, we are one of the few areas unaffected by the winter storms (now named "polar vortexes") Especially south of the Caloosahatchee

Been down here full time since 1997 (honorary Florida Cracker)
