Z06 grille and brake cooling duct
Any one installed Z51 front brake cooling ducts for base coupe? I have the Z06 grille but it would look silly without ducts....

Burning Brakes
I was asking this question as well since I have a base coupe and a Z06 grill on the way. The consensus is that the Z51 ducts will mate up just fine and complete the look. I haven't found the duct part numbers yet to see how much they are or their availability.

I was discussing this issue with Gene. There are rivnuts that are used to hold the ducts in place and Gene was asking if the rivnuts are already installed or if he should include them with the duct "kit". Lets try to get the duct part number and determine if the rivnuts are already there.

does it really look that bad without the vents, on a base model?

Thanks for the pics of the ducts and the front of the car with the fascia off.

Anyone got part numbers for the Z51 vs base fender liners so we can confirm if they are different? Also will help for those looking to order the Z ones if adding ducting..
EDIT: for anyone wondering on this, I was at the parts dept today and the fender liners are about $90..... EACH. Much more cost effective to cut your base model ones as needed!

I'll be doing a complete How-To on adding these ducts and deflectors to the base model probably later tonight or tomorrow sometime. FYI, it will not be as easy as one hoped, at least not for adding the rears. The three holes on the rear knuckle that the deflectors attach to, are NOT threaded/tapped on the base model for some reason! Looks like I will need to tap them to get them bolted on. The rear ducts on the other hand you can get on there in about 3 minutes no problem.. lol
Why GM chose to leave these holes untapped, is well beyond me. Unless they are using some other method of connecting these deflectors other than bolts. There is nothing inside for them to grab onto though..

One thing I am a little concerned about is that the photo of the stock grill above shows what appears to be a foam or rubber piece attached to the grill where the duct interfaces with the grill. The Z06 grill does not come with that piece. Can someone with the Z51 grill let us know how that piece is attached to the grill and whether they transferred it to their Z06 grill prior to re-installing the bumper. Thanks.
Note: I found the piece is not needed when I installed my brake ducts . The scoop on the grill fits into the duct.
