FORGET COLD TIRE worries....added new winter shoes (PIC HEAVY)
Took my DD to get new Pilot Sport A/S 3's installed this morning. Initial thoughts on tires is a very smooth ride and great traction. Certainly a more aggressive tread pattern but nothing that is too bad to look at for a few months until Spring arrives.

SUMMER SHOES
2" Lift kit, ha!
Before washing and adding the shine!
Glad it's done and no worries regardless if its a nice 65 sunny winter day or 10 degrees.

After 1 day I will say these tires certainly do seem to have very comparable grip (better than expected) and are ride a bit smoother. Seems like the normal rate when you change from a run-flat to a non run-flat. Now to add a tire repair kit and stick small pump on the rear cargo compartment like other forum members have done.

I had a set of A/S 3's installed on my Vette last Monday. Monday the highs were in the 20s but since then the low to high temperature range in OKC has been about 35 to 55 degrees. So I have not had the chance to see home the all season tires compare to the summer tires driving in cold weather.
On my way home from having the all season tires installed I noticed the ride and handling was not near as good as the summer tires. And I thought the noise level was approximately the same. I drove on the tires for three days and approximately 50 miles before checking the air pressure in the tires. Each tire had 34 - 35 psi. I reduced the air pressure to 31 in each tire, and what a difference that made. The tires ride and handle much better and are quieter with the correct amount of air. I am more satisfied with the tires now than I was right after I had them installed.
I drove about 35 miles on the interstate yesterday in the rain, and was quite satisfied with the tires.
Overall I am satisfied with the tire so far, but I still look forward to putting the summer tires back on.

Did they chip your wheels on the edges? I'd worry about that damage with twice yearly tire switchover. If I were going to do this I'd get another set of wheels.

Agree, I just purchased a set of silver Z51 wheels on E-Bay and will be mounting the all seasons on them. Makes the annual switch over a bit easier.

In your fifth picture (Summer Shoes), the second tire from the right appears to be wearing on the outside edges of some of the tread ribs. Is that a photo illusion, or is your car in need of an alignment check?

Those are some awesome winter tires, they even make your paint look whiter!

You are exactly correct. That's something I looked at as soon as they were off the car. Original tires have just over 8,000 miles. I did have an alignment done (just as many other forum members have mentioned) but I was ~4,500 miles at the time. Under 7,500 is warranty work. I would also suggest that everyone have their alignment checked. Had tested driving on various highways an in different lanes when lanes were flatter than the normal pitch from the center of most roads. My car didn't seem to have much pull to any one direction but was in need of an alignment when new.

Going to get another set of wheels. My thoughts are since its a DD to use the factory wheels during the winter (let them take the abuse) and spend some down time this winter to shop for some new wheels for the summer tires.

Nice to have something on the car that you feel safe driving in colder temps.
