Default Wheel center cap removal question

I did a search but could not find anything on this.

Has anyone tried to remove their Z51 wheel center caps without removing the wheel. I purchased a new set of center caps and thought I'd change them out while the car is put away for the winter. I'm concerned about damaging the wheel and the center caps I'm removing if I try to pry them out. If you have any experience with this any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I was able to remove the caps from base wheels, should be similar. Use an optical size very smooth polished screwdriver to back the cap away from one edge and raise slightly, then use a second very small screwdriver to reach in under the very lowest part of the edge of the cap, should lift right out with no damage, did on mine but proceed slowly. My wheels are chrome if yours are paint you might put a layer of masking tape where screwdriver lightly prise against paint.

You can pry them out without removing the wheel, but you must use a non-marring tool like plastic trim tools. Anything else risks damage.

this method works like a charm. Use same piece of Velcro tape for all four wheels. Takes 2 minutes....no damage.

Now that is just plain clever! Thanks for posting...first time I've felt the need to say that.

I'm not sure I'd try that Velcro tape trick on the Stingray center caps. The Cross Flags and circle is a separate part and there is a very real chance that when you try to remove the tape you will pull off the Cross Flags.

Maybe I bought the wrong Velcro but it is made by Velcro and says 2000 lb test. almost impossible to separate the sticky barrier tape but I got it done. Pressed it on the center cap real well as shown, grabbed with pliers and gave a big yank, NOTHING BUT TAPE came off.
I'll try again but I don't think it will work. I have stock GS Chrome wheels BTW

Use plastic interior trim tools to remove or use a very small screw driver. I used a small screwdriver to remove mine. No scratches.

I used a small screwdriver and was careful. They pry out fairly easy.

I tried it and just pulled the chrome flags off. It could have bent and broke. Luckily it wasn't hurt. Then successfully used a plastic trim tool.

Dudes...just use a credit card and walk it in and around and "pop"!
A thinner type card is best.
