How many would rather have a C7 Z51 over a C6 ZR1?

Yea name the "upgrades" that your C7 has over the ZR1. And I'm not talking cosmetic stuff like seats, stereo etc... My guess is you like most people here couldn't afford a 2013 ZR1 and when they bought their C7 they have to justify their purchase saying they would take the C7 over a ZR1. Utter nonsense.
Stingray without a question. Love the design and look of the car. I personally think it's the best looking vette ever IMO. Plus I leave nothing stock so the performance difference isn't that big of a deal to me. Nothing ECS or lingenfelter cant fix. That's if that even matters to you. I hate to say it but i think MOST vette owners are waxers anyway.

I can think of at least one variant from each of the 7 gens I would love to have.
But, what the hell, I just like Corvettes. Especially the really cool ones (and those came both before and after MY 2014, fwiw).

I was driving in a nice part of town over the weekend with a friend of mine in my C7 Z51 and saw a very stunning red ZR1. I waved the whole time but I got no wave back though the ZR1 driver did eye my car heavily as I drove by. I don't think he liked how much better the C7 looked and how much younger I was IMO there's really no settling for less than a C7 now if you are looking to by a C4, C5, C6 or, C7. The C7 is such a big improvement over the previous years that it has made them really obselete in many ways.
Second, these aren't Camrys. People keep their Vettes because they actually like them. It's like saying a classic car is obsolete; it's a classic!
Finally, ZR1s are supercars; Stingrays are not. 10 years from now, you'll see C7s all over the place. ZR1s are another level of exclusivity AND performance. It takes a C7 Z06 (a supercar) to dethrone the ZR1.
That being said, I smile and wave and thumbs up whenever I see a C7!

The C7 is nice, but calling other Vettes obsolete is wrong. First, the specs don't support the argument. The C5 Z06 and the C6 Z51 are within .3 secs of the C7 0-60, similar top speeds, etc. With good tires...Think about it; a stock car that's 10 years old can actually beat a C7 if the driver is slightly better. The differences/upgrades on interiors are inevitable. Things do get better.

The base C7 is only .3 slower to 60 than a 2013 Z06. A base C7 driver in an automatic can beat a Z06 driver who doesn't shift almost perfectly.

Well having traded my 2012 z06 for a 2015 z51 I can say I miss the power a lot.
C7 has nice looks and some fancy electronics and is smaller inside. My wife doesn't like the cramped pass side and less luggage space.
I have given some thoughts to a used Zr1 but will look at buying a new Z06 first.

Omg this thread is still going on? Both cars are great it's simply insecure people trying to justify their purchase and convince themself they have the "best" vette. I recently chose between a mint used ZR1 and a C7 Z51. I went with the Z51 because I simply liked it more. I'm sure there is someone that was just in my same situation and chose the ZR1. Who cares.

It seems a large percentage of people prefer the looks of the C7 over the C6, then again in about 5 years from now we'll probably be making similar comparisons between the C7 and C8.
Almost 40,000 C7's were sold in 2014, and more than likely 2015 will return similar C7 numbers. Only 4,684 C6 ZR-1's were sold between 2009 and 2013, so from a rarity stand point alone I would imagine the ZR-1's should hold their value very well, perhaps better than the C7 Stingray. If I could afford to be a Corvette collector, I'd definitely own a ZR-1 (too).

Okay, so the OP prefers his C7 over a ZR1. Good for him. As long as he's happy, then that's all that should matter to him. If I was offered a good condition C6 ZR1 at a fair price, I would hop on it. The C6 ZR1 has something the C7 will never have, exclusivity. There are already TEN times the number of C7's on the road than C6 ZR1's. It's very possible that in time, the ZR1 could go up in value once depreciation has leveled off. That will never happen with the C7. Way too many of them have been produced. Bottom line, like what you like, be respectful of other people's opinions, and let's all get along.

I couldn't care less what is getting posted in the C6 section at this point yet C6 owners are getting all up in arms in the C7 section?

The arguments in this thread are silly...and no matter the ages there seems to be a lot of chest thumping and what not. The C6 ZR1 is a monster of a car and honestly is not for everyone, hell I'd be inclined to agree that the kind of people that are attracted to the ZR1 are a vast minority of Corvette owners. It is not even a comparable car in some peoples minds. In my mind the C7 wins out because it appeals to me, the ZR1 never triggered any kind of "gotta have it" response in my brain. I respect the car for what it is and know that it would decimate my Z51 in many performance metrics, but considering the fact that in the month that I have owned my C7 I've racked up 3000 miles since its a daily driven car, all those metrics mean squat when I have a car that is as enjoyable to drive as the C7 in day to day driving.
The other thing is that the stuff people tout about the ZR1 are things that I don't care for. The supercharged engine doesn't appeal to me, a lot of people like superchargers, I just don't want one on mine. The C6 interior IS that bad, I'm pretty sure the Z06 carbon and the ZR1 have the same interior, and I wasn't impressed with it in the least and like many here I thought it needed some serious attention to the seats. Once again personal preference here. In the same vein, as a trackable car, I'd take a C6 Z06 Carbon over a ZR1 as it's a ZR1 with an LS7 in it and no chintzy plastic window showing the SC. See, personal preferences make a huge impact on what people think.
So in my eyes, yes the C6 in all it's variations is obsolete...for me, especially since I can only afford to own one Corvette right now. If money was no object and I had to choose just one I would still take the C7. It's more approachable all around, and in no way is it a slouch on the road, it's easier to live with, the design inside and out feels modern to me in a way that the C6 just never did.
After saying all that though, if I could have both I would absolutely love to own a ZR1 with a C7. It is an incredible car but in a way that I would only occasionally need to drive to appreciate. It would be more of a car to own in a collection of Corvettes than my only Corvette.
I guess the best way to say what I feel is that if someone offered to trade a ZR1 with the same mileage as my C7 straight up, I'd have to say no as it just doesn't fit my life right now.

Also anyone hoping to turn a profit on a ZR1 are deluded. Sure they aren't a dime a dozen, but they aren't FGT's either. Lets take a look at the previous ZR1 for a good example of the kind of return you can expect...not to mention that the C4 ZR-1 had fewer sold, and actually had a special motor...especially for GM, a DOHC V8. I can buy one right now on EBAY with 21k miles for $30k. Now that is a car I really want to get my hands on just because of that engine.
