I agree. See what you can get them down to for exactly what you would want.

Interesting that most seem to tout the A8 despite the fact that the new transmission has no history yet. I was going to wait and order a 2015 until I learned about the A8. I then rushed out and bought a 2014 A6 from dealer stock because I specifically did not want the A8. I have yet to ride in or drive an A8 that I would own...all seem to constantly "hunt" for the right gear at lower speeds (annoying). Seems like overkill on a car that already achieves almost 30mpg hwy. Also, if you attend the Ron Fellows school, one of the first things you learn is that you only use the lst 4 gears (manual or auto) on the track...

To me there is no real question if the 8k is no issue the the 2015 is the better deal. The 3lt is all that and more.

That's a decision you face every time new technology is introduced. Do you stay with the tried and true or go with the new and shiny? It's almost a given that new technology will have bugs, but they are almost always fixed, most rather quickly. What impressed me about the A8 was that it was designed to withstand 650 ft./lb. of torque in the Z06. That should make it bulletproof in a base C7.

I didn't notice a lot of hunting at lower speeds. The one I drove downshift crisply as I decelerated and seemed pretty good at picking the right gear for acceleration in stop and go traffic.

The A8 makes all other considerations mute.......the aging A6 is yesterday's technology!

IF the newer technology of the A8 is important to you OR if resale is important, etc. then you should buy the 2015. It's all about your priorities. I suspect many people just want to own and drive a Corvette for all of the experiences that it provides - the 2014 will do that and save you substantial $$ over the 2015 (while "appearing" identical). 3LT vs. 2LT is a wash to me - with my red interior I actually prefer the 2LT (too much red on the dash IN MY OPINION on the 3LT). Others view this differently. Good luck!
I agree 100% here. The A6 vs A8 comparison to 99% of us who drive around in normal conditions is kind of meaningless to me. I wouldn't pay $8K for it. I just don't see really telling a difference in normal driving. The A6 is very fast, shifts great and does everything. The A8 is probably nice too, but is it really worth the extra $$'s? i personally don't think so.

mostly everyone would not even know the difference if you put a blindfold on and drove it. But it is new, so it must be better...lol

dang! $72,250? That's stellar.

I had to pay more for my 2014 Laguna Blue, 3LT, Z51, stinger hood, and carbon flash mirrors/spoiler, etc, just back in July.

I had all the options spec'ed out when I was ordering except 3LT. It started to bug me so I called the dealer back and said to hell with it, give me the 3LT. I didnt care about NAV (and it stinks so I hope they updated software for 2015) - I have my phone and a Garmin, who needs a 3rd GPS ?

However, I knew that it would bug me if I didnt have that fully wrapped kalahari-colored napa leather all around the cockpit and I am so glad I got it and paid that obscene $3800 or whatever it was. Its quality is great, its feel is great, its look is great, and I smile everytime I sit in it.

Sorry if someone already asked, but why not build your own? It's winter so it will be ready just in time and you dont have to start paying on it. Maybe you don't want red calipers with a blue car? Maybe you wanted a full stripe? Just a thought.

(black stinger stripe is amazing on it though, I wouldn't trade mine)

I agree that it's not worth 8k difference to me but it does matter if OP is buying to keep or buying to later sell. If the former then the 2014 should be fine but if buying with intentions to sell then OP should go with 2015 model...

I'd get the 15...I'm looking myself and 14 auto is an automatic no(no pun intended)

Even leftover 14 manuals would have to be an exceptional deal now especially since if there are no discounts they are not moving either 14 or 15's imo.

I wouldn't touch a 14 for less than $11k+ off! JMHO.

1) NEW 2014 Laguna Blue, Z51, 2LT, A6, NPP, Nav., black wheels, black top and black interior, battery protection, sill plates, center wheel caps, premium mats. Sticker is $72,745. I have the dealer down to $64K.

2) NEW 2015 Laguna Blue, Z51, 3LT, A8, red calipers, stinger hood, carbon flash mirrors/spoiler, black wheels, 3M on nose, hood & rockers, sill plates, premium mats, battery protection. Sticker = $79,395. I have the dealer down to $72,250.

I “get” that the 2015 is a better car etc. etc. etc. My question to you guys is which car is a better deal, given year, options etc.??

Thanks in advance for your advice!!!
The key is to focus on the % discount.

A leftover "new" 2014 needs to be 14-16% off MSRP, since the car is ONE year old, so that is around $61k - $62k. They are $3k too high on the price.

People are getting 8-10% off new 2015s, so the 10% they quotes is right in line.

The difference in the discount needs to be about 6%, to cover for the one year of depreciation. The 2015 is the better deal at 10% discount than the 2014 is at 12% discount.

I stayed away from talking transmission with you, since your question had absolutely nothing to do with that and all to do with $$$$

Chrysler already has an A9, so that already makes the A8 yesterday's technology too, according to you. It's hard to keep up with technology.

Go for the new model. I just got my Stingray just over 2 weeks ago and it is awesome.
I ended up with the Velocity Yellow with the 3LT and and ZR1 setups. Once I figure how to post a photo,I'll do so. Go for the new model, you won't be sorry.
I really liked my 2004 and was really sorry to let it go,but, this Stingray is light years ahead of my older Vette. go for it!
