Ready to pull trigger on one of these two, new Vettes. Which is the better deal??
I have been Vette-less for two years now….the first time in 25 years. I have a bead on Vette #7. :-) I have my selection down to two cars. I describe them below. Please let me know your thoughts on which car is a better deal:
1) NEW 2014 Laguna Blue, Z51, 2LT, A6, NPP, Nav., black wheels, black top and black interior, battery protection, sill plates, center wheel caps, premium mats. Sticker is $72,745. I have the dealer down to $64K.
2) NEW 2015 Laguna Blue, Z51, 3LT, A8, red calipers, stinger hood, carbon flash mirrors/spoiler, black wheels, 3M on nose, hood & rockers, sill plates, premium mats, battery protection. Sticker = $79,395. I have the dealer down to $72,250.
I “get” that the 2015 is a better car etc. etc. etc. My question to you guys is which car is a better deal, given year, options etc.??
Thanks in advance for your advice!!!

Don't even think about it, unless the 2015 is out of your budget. Guys are unloading 2014 A6's to get into 2015 A8's( for stingrays and Z06's). Your two choices are a 2014 2LT A6 vs a 2015 3LT A8. Don't stand short. Get the 2015.

I think they are both comparable price-wise, ~12 percent off the '14 and 9 percent off the '15. I'd go with the 15 because its a year newer and has the A8 if the $8K difference in price doesn't matter.

that 2014 is almost 1.5 years old now, model wise. I don't think its a good enough incentive to consider it personally. But I waited myself from a 14 to a 15 because I wanted the 8 speed auto, so between the 2 I would have to choose the 15 anyways.

15 is the way to go because the 14 is going to take a hit in value the 15 will not for a while. Plus you might be able to stay even in value making payments.

If I were to order a Vette, it would be exactly setup as the 2015 that I listed above. :-)
While we are on the topic of ordering, what kind of discount off of MSRP do you tend to get? Do the dealers tend to stick near or at MSRP? I've never order a car.

Unless you absolutely can't afford the extra money you'd be a fool to buy that 2014 at that price (in my opinion).
Buy the 2015... You'll regret it later if you don't.

Thank you. Yes, the 2015 has NPP. It got added to the Z51 package in 2015. Gotta have that exhaust note!

Go to this link and sign up for the credit union discount.

Then build the car you want and print the worksheet. Take that to a dealer--you may have to go to several or even a whole bunch to find one that will take the discount. It's 9 percent which is about the most you will get without some unusual circumstance.

The newer vehicle is always the better deal even if the cars are identical. You get the benefit of new features like the A8 as well as updates to the electronic systems.

If you think the leather wrapped interior, A8 and cosmetic adds are worth $8,000 then the 2015 is the one. I have the A6, which has basically been around since 2006, and don't feel I'm missing anything. I could have had an A8 but the A6 came in the color I wanted. Except for the $8,000 I don't think you'll be sorry with either. Have fun.

I can't answer this for you because I don't know what your priorities are for the vehicle. IF you want a blue Corvette with an automatic that has great performance and looks like a blue Corvette then either will suffice - I'd buy the least expensive one. IF the newer technology of the A8 is important to you OR if resale is important, etc. then you should buy the 2015. It's all about your priorities. I suspect many people just want to own and drive a Corvette for all of the experiences that it provides - the 2014 will do that and save you substantial $$ over the 2015 (while "appearing" identical). 3LT vs. 2LT is a wash to me - with my red interior I actually prefer the 2LT (too much red on the dash IN MY OPINION on the 3LT). Others view this differently. Good luck!

If I could afford the difference in negotiated price, I would go with the '15. I think the dealer would have to offer a better deal on the '14 for me to accept a car that is over a model year older right now.

I'd take #1. An $8k premium isn't worth it to me for the A8 over the A6 and 3LT instead of 2LT interior. Both have the full Z51 w/NPP and navigation so my needs would be met unless you really want the PDR.
Come time to sell or trade-in will there be a difference in value? Yeah, maybe $2-3k, but the general public could careless (remember, forum enthusiasts make up a very small percentage of buyers). That's still $5k net you're out-of-pocket in the end (gas savings will be minimal, so will any additional financing costs, so we'll call those off-setting).

Based on the numbers you've given there really is NO DECISION here. There is almost $7,000 difference in list price, mostly based on additional equipment... Yet $8,000 difference between the discounted prices... In other words you're getting only about $1,000 "off" for taking a car that's 1 model year OLDER and that DOESNT HAVE THE NEW A8 transmission.
Unless you absolutely can't afford the extra money you'd be a fool to buy that 2014 at that price (in my opinion).
