One member here has put C6 GS hash stripes on his and claims it's a GS. His username is C7GS or something similar. That doesn't make it a GS and there is no C7 GS. I don't see any reason why GM would make one either.

Not yet. But you can bet if GM can sell more Corvettes by coming out with a Grand Sport version you will see it. Just my two cents

A C7 Grand Sport or similar car could happen in a few years if the Z06 sales go way down. Many like the wide body look and don't need or want the bigger HP. GM sold a ton of C6 Grand Sports for these reasons. If it sells big, why not build it?

I still think there is a HP sweet spot around 550 that a Grand Sport could fill in between the Stingray and Z06.

I would be surprised if they do a GS. The C6 GS KILLED Z06 sales, the C7 Z06, with targa/convertible/automatic availability should be enough. The C6 GS helped keep the Corvette from going in the sales tank completely but, by modern Corvette standards, it wasn't the huge sales success that some folks seem to think it was. Reality is that the C6 was supposed to be replaced MUCH earlier than it was, the GS was a stop gap to keep some sales going until the C7 was completed. Tadge has stated many times that GS was NOT planned in the beginning of the C6, it (the GS) was a reaction to the meltdown of 2008 and the bankruptcy.

I'd be happy to see a bump in HP for the Stingray come 2016.

GM will bring one out eventually. Why not?
Not everyone will be willing to spend what it takes for a Z06 but would like the look.
It was a success with the C6 so why would the C7 be any different?

Compared to the level the C6 sold at for it's first 4 years (2005 - 2008), the GS was NOT a success (sales wise) by any stretch of the imagination.

I do laugh though when I hear people say the Stingray won't run as long as most models have. Been hearing that from GM since what, the C3? They are going to milk it as long as they can turn a profit, and eventually cut production costs when they start sharing body parts with the Z06.
They've already started this by announcing they would be selling Z06 performance parts to base Stingray orders.

They already dumbed down the Z51 option with bolt ons.......... seems they do the same with a GS.
Frankly there are so many vendors producing parts GM would be dumb not to hop on this train.

No, it just kept the Corvette from selling under 10,000 models a year. That in itself was a success. 2009 sales were pretty bad for numerous reasons.

I wouldnt mind a 500hp GS c7 with the widebody for a DD in 3-4 years. Would go good with my built FRC.

Perfect timing for me. I'll be happy to take a base Stingray off of someone's hands right about then!

After hearing that Tadge tried to develop a NA high-revving engine for the Z06, it makes sense that there is a platform available to build a ~ 550 HP Grand Sport. Plus, there were mules spotted recently that looked like a Z06 without a supercharger. It makes a lot of sense to bring in a model between the Stingray and Z06 at some point.

Saw another post where someone said GS models skip a generation.
If that's true, it will be C8.
