Talk Me Out Of A Z51

Ive had the Z51 on previous vettes. the best rider was the 427. Now I have a 15 C7 with 2LT, and NPP exhaust. Its ride is very good and not harsh. Don't waste the money if your not going to track and enjoy the extra features that the 2LT provides. Tires cheaper to replace, no dry sump and the ride is better.

If I'm buying a 60 thousand dollar corvette I'm not going to choose my options to save money on tire replacements lol

Go for it! You won't be disappointed, plus the car will have a higher value when you sell it.

So I have been C7 shopping for a couple weeks now, and all along I had it in my head that I wanted a Z51. I just looked at not getting a Z51 like getting 6 cyl Camaro or something, like it wouldn't be the same without it.
I know some people say it's only for track use and other say it has benefits on the street. But after doing some research I am wonder, maybe I should go 2LT instead of Z51 1LT.
Looking for advice from people that actually own them, what do you guys think? No the dry sump/oiling issue doesn't scare me.

Several answers geared to the non Z51 as well.
The driving difference may be a deciding factor.

Anyhow, to answer your question point blank, there are plenty of reasons not to get the Z51, which means going with non Z51.
To throw JUST ONE reason at you - NO Brake Dust. Some Z51 owners will minimize this and perhaps it will turn into a pissing match and everyone will forget the only reason I mention this is to directly answer your question, which is the point of the thread.
I had a 2009 Z435i before the C7 and got so sick and tired of cleaning brake dust, the C7 without the Z51 was a welcome enjoyment. It will boil down to what is important for you.

Sorry can't. Love mine. Each to their own of course, but for me, if I wouldn't have gotten the Z51 package with Mag Ride, in the back of my mind I would have always wondered what the difference would have been.

Pretty much where I am. Since I am going Z51 I am going mag ride so I can have comfort and performance.

10mm - Simple decision. If the dry sump oil system, electronic limited slip differential, differential cooler, upgraded performance suspension, performance exhaust, HD engine cooling, option for the magnetic ride control, larger wheels and tires, and slotted brake rotors are not important to you, go with the non-Z51. If these upgrades are important to you, it's Z-51 time. Either way you'll have one heck of a nice car.

I have a base convertible. I didn't go Z51 because; dry sump engine oil system, electronic limited slip differential, I projected these two systems would have issues, dry sump = servicing, e-diff = mechanical. My C6 had magnetic ride, with the C7's stiffer frame have not missed it. Currently I have driven 2,500 miles, never have come close to the car's capabilities. I like the 2LT interior, all the features expected in a $60,000+ car. I also went with the navigation option, a really great system (have to read the book) superior to the hand held navigation systems many seem to favor? " AND " saved about $8,000.

My 2014 coupe was z51. I switched to 2015 convertible with zf1 + npp because there wasnt a z51 convertible with color combo that I wanted, otherwise I would go with Z51.
Price is getting close to be the same when you start adding zf1 + npp (which is a must for any vette ) and the resale value of z51 most likely is higher than base + zf1 + npp.
