Because the hid/LED/laser lights that are going on cars now give the spread that fogs used to add to. All fogs will be gone in a few years....also, it makes for a far cleaner front end.

The only time I have really found fog lights helpful was improved visibility for some city streets where the lane markers should have been repainted in the last couple of decades. The lights I really miss were the fog lights on the back of an Oldsmobile Aurora I owned quite awhile ago. In fog and snow it made the car much more visible to approaching cars and when it wasn't foggy they were bright enough that if anyone was following too close turning them on stopped that behavior.
As Glen stated they aren't really needed with newer lighting technology.

I've driven mine in fog. C7 doesn't need em.

I never thought they really did much in fog, except make you more visible to oncoming cars, which is no small thing. They do, however, make a HUGE difference when driving in the rain on a non-lit road.
It's been raining all week, and I've been driving the C6.

real "Fog" lights are yellow and offer very little help unless it's foggy out, clear lights
are considered "Driving Lights" and can help considerably on poorly light roads and
in hazardous conditions. here in S. Florida i have seen cops arbitrarily issue tickets
for using either in normal conditions.

Too bad there is not a way to have fog light only enabled for when they are actually needed.

One "fog" feature I assume will be on the export cars is the rear fog light as its required in many European countries, I wish we had it.
Quick quiz, how many here know what that is and how it's activated? (Glen doesn't count and based on the number of Mercedes and BMW drivers I see improperly using them I'm guess the number is low.......)

Melting Slicks
The don't have fog lights because GM finally got smart and figured out the bulbs kept blowing in earlier models. Rather than putting in better sockets, GM just decided to do away with them altogether. "Can you hear I am being facetious?"
If you have ever owned or seen a C5 coming toward you on the road, you know what I'm talking about.

Fog lights were nice when we operating a car with hidden headlights. I would turn the fog lights on when operating in twilight conditions (like running lights) prior to extending the headlights. The lighting I miss is cornering lights (lit up the dark area you were turning towards) they were the vogue during the eighties and nineties.

That works for me!
AMEN! This is a pet peeve of mine also. Some folks are either clueless or pretty jerky to do so. Never mind other drivers, "Look at me, man -- I got fog lights!"

I pretty much use my HID fogs, aka driving lights, only during rainy conditions or at dusk before I turn on/up my HID headlights, then I turn them off. Plus, I kept my high beams halogen to keep my flash-to-pass capability. However, due to the separate HID harness I installed, I can also turn on my high beam halogens without turning off my HID fogs. When all three lighting systems are engaged, I can see for miles on those dark, poorly lit back roads.

Change wheel color
Just saw something interesting in the paper today. Its a spray vinyl for wheels, and its comes in different colors. It says it takes a number of coats to get desired color. Best part about it, is, when you get tired of the color, you can peel it off, go back to the original color, or respray them with a totally different color.
