I've done a lot with Mustangs, currently have two and have a Challenger RT. Never had a Vette.
I drive a rental car every week due to travel. I've driven Camaro SS's and Mustang GTs (Yes, after 30+ months of weekly rentals at Avis you really do get treated differently - as you should).
We looked hard at the 2015 Mustang, as my wife works for Ford. It's a very nice car and this is a major restructure year for the platform.
After looking at the Stingray and driving it; nope. I like my Stingray.
We'll downsize the two current Mustangs for a 2015 convertible at some point or end end up with a Challenger Scat Pak sometime in 2015.
Between a Mustang, Challenger, and Camaro - if you have kids - Challenger, Mustang, Camaro. No kids to cart around - Mustang, Challenger, Camaro.
Between any of those and a Stingray without concern for carting kids - Stingray.

The GT 350 could be a game changer for Ford, particularly of they can bring the weight down from the GT.

You want quite, get the vert, 3lt is way nicer than a Mustang interior. Also get the ZF1 package with the machine faced wheels, these wheels are really nice looking. You said that price is no problem so get it loaded. It will be very comfy.
Do you belong to a credit union, if not join one and get a nice discount ( about 9% ) off of sticker. Go to gmsupplierdiscount.com and build one with all that you want on it and it will show you your price. Have fun, build several different configurations and you will find your perfect car.
Remember, you are on the Corvette Forum, so your going to get some pretty biased answers.
I have owned Mustangs in the past and they are nice, a bit more room, but not the car the Corvette is.
Good Luck

Not exactly the comparison you're asking about, but we have both. Wife has a 2012 Mustang Shelby GT500 SVT vert and I have a 2014 C7 Vert. They are two very different cars, but both are a blast to drive, just in different ways.
The Mustang is a muscle car while the C7 is a sports car. My C7 is a 3LT, so very comfy interior. I prefer the C7 seats to the Mustang seats for comfort and support. Interior of both is top notch, which was not the case with my C6.
Even though it's a Shelby, the Mustang doesn't get nearly the attention the C7 gets, which may or may not matter to you.
I haven't driven the new Mustang so don't know how much the suspension, especially for cornering, has improved. The wife's Shelby is all about pure, raw acceleration and will easily take the C7 in a straight line. Get in the curves and it's the exact opposite.
I don't think you can really go wrong with either one, unless you get a used Shelby or wait for the GT350.

I said this earlier, but I think it bears repeating.
With the Mustang, you go to the dealer and order what you want, then wait for it to arrive.
Purchasing a Stingray offers much more variety in the buying experience. You can do as above and order it and wait for it to come in, or you can opt for the Buyer's Tour, photo book, and museum delivery through the museum. If this is a special buy for you, then these things add to the whole experience.

Vette all the way
I ordered a 2015 Mustang Gt LE when it came in I was ready to pull the trigger and pick it up awsome car have had many Mustangs. Went to local Chevy dealer that just got in a 15 Shark Grey 7 speed with zf1 package which includes the rims from the z51. I use this car for a daily driver and it is very comftable. I would take the Vette hands down over the stang.

Which is better blondes or redheads? Its a personal choice, drive them both and you decide. Of course this is a vette website. So corvette always wins here.
I was thinking about trading in my old Z06 for 15 convertible Mustang. I don't track much anymore and don't run in the SCCA autox anymore, so a nice convertible with a back seat and good looks, might be the ticket for me.
Cant go wrong either way, choose what suits you best!

If I could do it all over again, I would buy the Mustang instead of the 2015 Corvette I did buy. If I would not get killed on a trade in, I would do it now.

Like others have said, if you are looking at a Mustang OR a C7 Vette that means you will have the $$$ to buy the upcoming flat plane crank GT350. This thing is beautiful.

Not to throw a fly into the ointment, but a new Camaro ZL1 might be something to consider. It falls in between the Mustang and the Corvette. It has the heads-up display and non-flat tires that you want and is much better handling than the Mustang but not as good as the Corvette. I have both a ZL1 and a Z51 C7. Both have great qualities. Like others have said, if you can wait for the GT350, this might be a great choice as well. Test drive them and I am sure the one you like best will stand above the others.

She is sweet, just so many issues with an extremely limited production vehicle IMO. I stated earlier that my choice was that or the vette. The vette won me on many reasons one of them being the fact that limited production American cars are just so hard to get worked on even by the dealer, they are like WTF is this thing. Parts for that stang and aftermarket also will be limited. I have a Focus ST that I love and plan on keeping when the stingray comes but It's like showing up with the mars rover at the dealership when I need something done on it. Also I'm guessing it will suffer the gas guzzler tax and not get anywhere near the MPG as the stingray.

dude forget the muskrat, get the hellcat, the new 5.0 ugly.... you cam fit 5 Adults in a chally, have you sat in the back seat, almost as bad as a Camaro, also they have a Scatpack with 485hp, more hp than the c7, all for high 30k. way better looking than that 5.0, It actually looks like a real muscle car, check out the Hemi orange, Look at least test drive one Ford is way behind they don't have push button start, They just now got IRS, but there will be no boss 302, the GT 350 will be the one to get. You are getting older,I am 5'9 178 lbs the c7 is small. TEST DRIVE YOU MAY TAKE HOME A DODGE. TRUST ME.....

I have a Boss 302 so I do like Mustangs and even considering upgrading it to the forthcoming GT350 late next year.. my friend has a new 5.0 GT with Performance Pkg. Nice car, I like it, and looks great in Deep Impact Blue... but I'd still take any C7 over it. Easy decision.
