When will 2016 Corvette C7 production begin?
I am sure that perhaps a few "high profile" Corvette Forum dealers might have the answers to this question.
I am a bit frustrated over the waiting game for production of the 2015 C7 Stingray (Base Model).
Any input on this question?
Thanks in advance.

Does it make any sense to order a 2015 C7 when depreciation will set in quickly once the 2016's get announced and start production.

If you own a 2014 and try to trade in for a 2015, or sell it outright see what you will get.

Car companies keep bringing out the new model years earlier and earlier. So if the 2016MY hits the market in mid 2015, the 2015MY will have immediate depreciation in addition to the already depreciation once it's driven off the lot. That's a no brainer......so hopefully you get it now! Most people here do.

but this applies to a 2015 as well. and every year after that. we can replace the number 2015 with 2016 and replace 2016 with 2017, the issue will still be at hand. You can't prevent depreciation.

not even halfway thru production of model year 15 and you are wondering about model year 16? This would be a much more valid question in May or June, but December? May as well put it off forever cause something newer is always around the corner.

Corvette S.O.P. has traditionally been late June/early July, it allowed some cars to be built and then evaluated during the two week GM shutdown in July. The 2014 C7 introduction was late and the model year ran late too, so 2015 production also started later than normal . By April we should learn the date 2015 production ends and the date 2016 production starts. It will be interesting to see if 2016 S.O.P returns to the normal late June/early July. That would make 2015 a short model year; with all the Z06s on the line there will likely be well under 30,000 2015 Stingrays built.
Note: Annual depreciation is a fact of life that can't be avoided
Every damn summer a new model arrives and causes your beautiful new car to become last year's model . There is no escaping it

I have been playing the order game since Oct 2014. One dealer stated I was next in line for an order.......they never got an allocation after waiting nearly 7 weeks. Now I have found another dealer, and the order has been placed and have ben sitting at code 1100, which is nowhere in line. I probably won't get the car until late Feb or March 2015. So I would have a 2015 then I figure there is a good possiblity that by June 2015 the 2016's are out.
Why should I buy a 2015 when 3 months later the 2016's arrive? This is a very valid question, and perhaps if you were in my shoes, you might be asking the same question. Do you understand perhaps why I am asking.
I also understand that depreciation is a fact of car ownership.

My guess is that MY changeover will remain August for the C7 generation. I just don't see them cutting a model year short.

If you're going to be keeping the car for at least 5 years, does it really matter how much it depreciates in the first year anyhow? Either way, in 5 years time the value of a 2015 on the used car market is going to be roughly the same as the 2016. And in ten years time the prices will be way more dependent on the condition and mileage of the car then it will be on whether it's a 2015 or 2016. Just buy the 2015 and enjoy it and don't worry about depreciation unless you planning on trading it in two years.
