Default C7 Seats

Hey Guys,

I was lucky enough get Avis to let me rent a C7 Corvette as my rental car for under 200 for two days. Long story.

Anyway, I have a question. I have heard so much praise about the seats for this car. However, I am finding the seat to be hurting my leg a great deal. The side bolsters on the bottom part of the seat (where you butt is) is the issue. I can't seem to find a way to keep my left thigh from resting across it (well more like my leg rests on the high part of the bolster). I have played with all the buttons and tried sitting in it different ways, but in the end, my legs begins to hurt. I am not a big guy, 6ft 1in and about 170lbs. I feel like the bottom part of the seat between the two bolsters is too narrow and I can't find a way to keep my leg from resting half way up the bolster. (I hope bolster is the right term because otherwise, this post is not going to make much sense.)

I was really trying to save money to get this car, but if I can't figure out this leg thing its going to be a no go for me. I don't want to have this issue every day on my way to work. I didn't have this issue in the c6. Please offer any suggestions you have. Is there a way to adjust these bottom bolsters that I haven't found?

Thanks.

A forum member posted a DIY where he pulled the seat cover and perforated the bolster to soften it. I think the results were good.

Do you sit too close to the steering wheel with your legs spread out?

No, the seat is all the way back. And I am not slouching either, in case someone was wondering.

Did the car you rented have the competition seats? I took one for a test drive before I ordered mine in November. Drove 5 miles and my left thigh was killing me. Went back to the dealer and said if that is the only seat available, I don't want the car. Drove one with the GT seats and had no problem. Much softer seat bolsters. I'm 5' 11" 225# No fat man jokes please.

I will double check. I don't think so. Its not a z51. I know that doesn't matter, but not really the norm to buy competition seats with a non-z51.

Seats are very individual ---- For me the seats are excellent - except I wish that the driver's seat would go up two more inches

The seats are almost infinitely adjustable. LOTS of controls on them, work with them until you get the seat comfortable.

I find the seats in the C7 to vastly superior to the C6, which was my only complaint with my C6 that I put 126,000 miles on and rebuilt the driver's seat twice in the seven years of ownership.

The seats are adjustable but the bottom side bolsters are not adjustable. A lot of us are having problems with the outside bottom pushing into our legs. I checked and there plenty of room for that to be adjusted out but from the factory they made no adjustment for it. I'm hoping for a solution for this if someone can come up with it.

Well, I'm glad it's not just me. Has anybody who bought the 2015 noticed that the problem has been addressed or is it still the same?

It was a 14 I sat in with competition seats. 15 with the GT seats which I ended up ordering. Don't know if they made any changes.

I just checked, they are NOT the upgraded seats for racing. They are the standard seats.

Seats are not the best fit for me either (hurts my left leg). 6'2" 220#.

Now you have me worried. Didn't get to spend much time sitting in the GT seats but they seemed to have more padding. Mine is scheduled to be built week of 1/12/15 so I hope I'm right.

The side bolster dug into my legs (especially the left leg) when I first got the car. It was hard to find a spot to sit that was comfortable. But now that I have 7700 miles on the car the bolster seems to intrude less. Maybe it softens up with age or I've just gotten used to it. In any event it feels more comfortable now even on 1-2 hours trips. I'm glad I didn't reject the car because of that one thing...

I'm small in statue, 5' 7", and although I find the seats comfortable, I am at the limit with the width because my thighs are jammed against the sides of the seat. So, I do sympathize with you people of larger statue. Just for info, I have a 2015 Z51 3 LT.

I also want to point out, for those who have the seat pushed all the way to the rear, I suggest you check the back of your head rest. When my seats are all the to the rear, the back of the head rests are jammed against the bottom rear of the roof. I can see if this goes unattended it may wear a hole in the back of your head rest. This occurs on both seats so I've set the driver seat for "exit" so it's an inch or so away but you need to keep an eye on the passenger seat if you often travel with a passenger.

I have a 15 base 3LT A8 and have no problem with the seat comfort, although I'm only 5'7" and 160. I did a recent 200 mi. casino road trip with my gambling buddy (known him for 20 yrs) and he drove on the way back. He's 6'4 and about 240. Half way back (interstate driving) he said s*** how do you drive this thing, my left leg is killing me against the side of this seat. He said squirming around in the seat helps a bit but still uncomfortable. He said he was fine in passenger seat on the way there, lots of room.

The seats in my 2015 coupe, are as good as the seats were in my 1973 Vega.

Ya, but that one thing is very important. If you can't get comfortable in the seat and your leg always hurts, that's enough for me to go another way. As much as I like the car, I want to enjoy it.

On the plus side, the cooling function of the seat is awesome. Perfect for Florida. No ac, but keep your back from sweating.
