If sales cool, I would say something will be done to mix it up. Maybe HP increase or a GS model.

Improvements have got to already be arranged. Certainly when the C7 was being approved by the designers and engineers who were looking proudly at their final and perfect C7, the marketing dept. had to have been busy taking away some features from the car so that those things could be offered if and when needed.

475HP has a nice ring to it, if and when it happens. A GS or GT model would also get increased C7 attention in 201X.

A few horse power = eyewash. Really don't use the power currently available.

A weight loss program would have the same effect and improve mpg.

If significant weight was shaved off, that would be very effective but very expensive. Already have an aluminum frame and some carbon fiber.

Mandated safety equipment and electronics which have nothing to do with performance significantly increase the weight. Don

Why is it that whenever weight is brought up, it just can't be done? There is a lot more than just safety equipment in this car porking it up. The more likely scenario if the status quo is followed is they will increase power by 10-15hp and increase weight at the same time and the result will be virtually a wash in acceleration and a loss in braking and cornering.

I would think that 2017 or 2018, GM would do a "refresh" on the C7 and include a slight HP boost among other cosmetic changes.

This. But it wasn't the car. I've dropped 54 lbs since July. 238 down to 184. Butt dyno tells me it's faster.

In response to OP, yes, I'm getting heads and cam next year so it will be a significant increase.

Just a marketing gimmick if so. Anyone that says they can feel 10 hp more is....

If we are going to play the guessing game, then seems to me that 500 hp has a nice marketing ring to it. Next year is probably a little soon, but there is to much pressure from the competition's horsepower marketing blitz not to respond sometime in the not too distant future.

Why in the world would you care about any responses that can be supplied here? No one has any facts upon which to base an answer. What possible value can there be in guesses that have zero bases in facts? You might as well ask, "Will it be raining in Chicago next June?"

I think they'll save the "500HP" base Corvette for the C8 ... that's marketing dept type of stuff.

Now a special model with 500HP is a possibility, though I think 2017/18 is more likely for that. I'm interested in what kind of discounting we will see with the 2016s.

I'd guess they will tweak the performance a bit for next year. Could be as little as 5 more hp like they did between the 2000 and 2001 model years.

Look back at 2001-2002 Z06. That tiny horsepower and badge change was a slap in the face to 375hp 01 Z06 owners. Now whenever I see an 01 Z06 I feel sorry for it. As if it is defective, which it is not. And I certainly don't want my 2014 coupe to be that.

Even with the Camaros and Firebirds back in the 90s, when they bumped the rating on the LT1 from 275 to 285hp, that extra power really didn't show up even at the dragstrip. I had a 95TA (with 275 rated horsepower) that still ran quicker quarter mile times than other people I knew with the 96 and 97s rated 10hp more.

So if they do bump the horsepower on the C7, it better be a substantial increase like they did on the C6 (going from 400hp to 436)
