Where is the PDR microphone located?
My PDR has absolutely terrible sound when played back. Anyone know where the mic is located so that I can possibly check it before having to make a much unwanted trip to the dealer.

I take it the '15 is different than the '14 as the VR mic is located on the A pillar?

From the crude tests that I have done, the mic seems to be located in the rear view mirror near the camera itself. But, I am not saying for sure that I have located it yet.

I don't have the PDR, but I would think the camera unit has the mic integrated into it. Makes the most sense from an installation simplicity and wiring harness standpoint. So much of that area in 2015 is identical to the 2014 (which had packaged for the PDR) that there can't be much room for an 'external' mic.

Makes sense that it would be located in or near the camera. All I know for sure is that wherever it is located, the sound quality leaves a lot to be desired.

To get back to the OP's question, it appears to be in the mirror, perhaps it is integrated with the camera. The reason I say this is if you tap that area with your finger, it picks it up like it's right there. It is definitely separate from the bluetooth mic - when I play back a PDR file that recorded a cell phone call via a paired phone, the audio difference between what I hear on the call and what I hear later on the recording is obvious, and both ends of the conversation are heard on the recording.
I don't know what the expectation is for quality, but mine is not bad. Not stereo/multi-mic quality, but it picks up the exhaust sound and any voice communication, and radio audio is clear on the recording.

I do not expect high quality stereo sound. What I get is muffled engine sounds and any voice conversation is nearly unintelligible. I hope this is not normal. Actually, if this is normal, I could avoid the dreaded trip to the dealer. Almost certain that the dealer would just tell me it is normal!!! Triple yuck!!!
