New C7 offerings at 2015 Detroit Auto Show ?
Has anyone heard anything or leaks about new C7 offerings that may be shown or announced for the 2015 Detroit / North American Auto Show next month in January?... It's usually a big show for Chevy / GM. Always good to see new Corvette offerings.
And with news of Ford's new Ford GT successor set to debut in Detroit, wonder if GM will announce something good to grab some of the buzz & press of its own... I guess Ford's new performance halo car could be an instant competitor to the Z06.

I'll be there but not expecting anything new Corvette-wise. Chevy's big news for the NAIAS is the 2016 Volt; it's supposed to have styling touches inspired by the Corvette
Cadillac, showing the twin turbo V6 ATS-V and the LS4 powered CTS-V, should be an interesting exhibit for GM.

Yup, betting the owners of Ford's premiere dealerships will probably be the ones getting first dibs on these cars, just like '05-'06, a few celebutards the exception. Commoners lucky enough to get a shot at one were hit with staggering DMUs.
IF all Ford's going to do is resurrect the tooling for the '05/'06 cars with some buffed up technology & build 3,000 over 3 years, wonder what the impact might be on the upward spiral GTs have been seeing at recent auctions?
Could mean a severe 'correction'?
Last GT I saw at Mecum went for in excess of $400 large IIRC, based solely on its exclusivity (& usually unusually low miles). Is one still going to command that kind of dough? Because, so much for exclusivity.

That red one on a Canadian car show sold for 3 million, primarily because it was a street car, not a race car....very rare I guess. I can't think of the name of the show, was on Discovery or Velocity...I get them all mixed up now that there are so many.
See what I mean?

It is not a mass market car - they plan to build 4,500 of them over 3 model years - 1,500 per year, which is less than Ferrari builds of $350,000 F12's per year.
The truth of the matter is - just like for limited edition Ferrari's - unless you are someone important (Jack Roush or Jay Leno) or know someone, you won't be able to actually buy one.

Guy may be about to get the bath of his life.
I've a good acquaintance. He's a racer's racer. His family own a chain of car dealerships and one's a large Ford store. He had a F car 430, sold it for an '06 GT. Because of his Ford store connection he was able to build this car to, his claim, 750HP.
He let me drive it. Jet black, fabulous aftermarket wheels, $11K sound system. Really a nice car & it's a driver. Betting he bought-in before the craziness started, being a dealer possibly @ wholesale, said it came from NY. He's one lucky guy, won't lose a dime if the GT market tanks, late comers not so much.
Frankly I wasn't all that impressed.
Car felt lite at WOT. Small windows (for fresh air) & not crazy about the doors. Cool looking yes, but easy to smack the noggin getting in/out too until you learn to duck.
Clutch system felt crude compared to a [my] MZ6.
I love the car, simply thought it more than it is and why I'd wondered if the new' GT will be a buffed-up version, and, is what stops the escalating GT prices.

The 2004-2006 Ford GT design is a much bigger and more useable street car. I searched for a yellow one without stripes 5 or 6 years ago and managed to find one. Then thought it over and didn't pull the trigger, too much money to tie up in a toy that shouldn't be driven much. The market then was $125,000-$140,000. Now prices have been climbing, one of the few modern cars that has kept a good value right from the start. Probably should have pulled the trigger....

News regarding confirmation of a Grand Sport Vette would be Awesome. Since the Z06 is out, the "wide body" is available. "Build it and they will come".

Think pricing's going to be adversely effected for the original 2 year models? I'd sure would hate to be one of those buying in at $300-$400K recently, only to learn they'll to be built again.
After I drove my pal's GT I got home floating on cloud 9, never thought in a million years I'd get a chance to drive one of these beautiful cars. My bride's sitting out front diddling on her computer when I arrive & of course I tell her all about the experience, gushing like a school boy.
So she says, "Want one?". Replied hell yes --knowing she thought because these cars are '06/'06 models (in '13), pricing would be doable, in the $120-40 range. A "used car", right? I knew better.
She yells, "I found one! It's only 150 miles away in a north Chicago suburb. Pewter, ultra low miles!!" Then there's silence as she reads a 'firm' price of $199,999. She sighs, "Oh my".
Her heart's in the right place.
