You'll only see power from the purple wire on the car side and only when the car is running. NOT in accs. mode. I used the purple wire for power and mines worked fine, and I know multiple others have as well.

Thank you so much, I was only trying it in acc mode not starting the car.

The problem reported was due to a difference with the 2015 convertible mirror attachment. I believe due to the PDR.
does it turn off with the ignition?

The method of wiring in a detector described here using the purple wire works, it just works, coupe or convertible, no difference at all

That's exactly the reason why you must connect to it on the car side of the connector (no corresponding pin on the mirror side).

Really appreciate info here and in other similar threads to help folks DIY on these. I would not have the confidence to try this without the details and pictures provided.

Took me longer than I would have liked to get the pins in place. Once I stopped trying to get them where I wanted them and found the positions where the pins would more naturally fit, then it all came together. I had to keep telling myself to NOT resort to needlenose pliers lol -- it does work with fingers only.

I am unable to get the cover off. I tried using a prying tool, a screwdriver, I just can't get the cover to budge. It's almost like it's glued on! Did anyone else have issues getting it off?

Yes. It's not glued but their wasn't any room for me to use my plastic pry tool initially. I used a small eyeglass screw driver at the top of the cover to pry just enough to slip in my trim tool. Be patient and check all around the cover. I was seated in the passenger seat when I performed the wire tap process. Good luck.

Just finished a 1400 trip up the east coast and used both Waze and my V1. I would suggest using both! Found many places Waze had the cops but they were long gone when I got there.

Thanks to all who took the time to write about their install and posting pictures. It gives us all the confidence to take on these upgrades.

Forgive my confusion but I am just a little unclear on one thing for a Valentine 1. My V1 installations in current cars all require 12 volts and ground go to an Direct-Wire power adapter into which one plugs a telephone type jack that goes to the detector. This mirror tap looks like a tap into a 12 volt source that goes directly to a phone jack plug. Can one just plug this into a V1 directly? Is the purple wire 12v or a low voltage line? I assume 12v. So must one use the adapter? Thanks--Bob

Super write-up, thanks for sharing, placed my order for the mirror tap and will follow your process.
Took my car in Friday for oil change and decided to have the dealer do the mirror mount job as well.. They followed the method posted and all is good.

2020 C8 of the Year Winner - Unmodified

Default Invisicord

Has anyone used an Invisicord wire tap, will this work on the C7? I used this on my C6 with a Valentine1 detector.

I'm assuming the red wire with a yellow wrap goes to the purple on the car side and the green wire with a black wrap goes to black on the car side?

Thanks for your help.

.
That is correct. Did mine today. VERY hard to get the cord ends into the wire harness/plug. I filed them down as much as was safe to do, and even then it was next to impossible to get them to make contact. It works now, but I will probably have to solder small pins on the ends of the Invisicord wire in order to make good connections. Generally a PITA to do, compared to other cars.

2015 Z06 Convertible

-- the 2015 Stingray Convertible/and Z06 Coupe/Z06 Convertible -- do these 3 cars in fact share the same mirror ?
