Loud OnStar message
Late last night my wife and I were coming home. We're on the interstate and she was asleep. I was listening to an oldies XM channel with the volume low and suddenly OnStar blares out a message that sounded like it was at full volume. It was only a prerecorded advertisement about what OnStar can do for me on a trip but it scared the bejesus out of me. I've only had it for a month, do they do this very often?

I have On Star on all three of my cars and haven't ever heard this, I hope it stays that way!

I had the same thing happen - an unsolicited full volume advertisement - "TAKING A TRIP? DID YOU KNOW THAT ONSTAR ... blah, blah, blah"
I called the dealer and told them to file a complaint with GM.
It's very disappointing to hear that they are still pulling this nonsense.
If it happens to me again I am going to file a formal complaint with the NTSB - this crap is a serious driver distraction hazard.

When I first got the car, I used to get the "ads" for OnStar, but after the third or fourth one in the first month, I called them and went up the food chain until I found someone with the authority to put me on a "no call" list.
I haven't gotten another one from them in the subsequent 9 months, so it IS possible to have them stop calling you.

I too asked them to stop. They still called. So each time I got in car I buzzed them. I told them I asked them to stop calling me and they didn't so I was going to call them each time I got in my vehicle. Didn't take long to convince them to not call. And you don't have to be polite either. A pain, yes. But sometimes payback is hell.
