Interesting fact - Stingray vs. Z06 badging
I find this to be rather amusing. On the 2015 Stingray, chrome badging (front and rear flags outlines, rear "CORVETTE" lettering, and side front fender Stingray emblems) are chrome; for $100 you can opt for Carbon Flash instead.
On the Z06, the Carbon Flash ones are standard but for $100 you can get the chrome ones instead.
It's obviously not a matter of either version being more expensive to produce!

I paid the "tax" for carbon flash badging on my SGM Stingray and it was money well spent.

Option Pricing
That's not even close to the $500 for painted calipers. The yellow & red can't cost any more to paint than the silver or black.
Or, black wheels cost $500 more than silver. Black and silver body paints are the same price. My favorite (which I ordered), is after paying $500 for the black wheels, you pay another $1000 to have some of the black removed (total $1500 for black machined wheels).
Such is life in Corvette Option Land.

The same applies to Corvette Options. On the bright side, Porsche charges twice as much as Chevy for similar options.

Years ago the HUD was a free flowing option for $350. You could order it on any trim level. Now it's very obvious how GM has engineered the option packages for maximum profit for them and the Dealers. This is why I will never order anything but a 1LT car I refuse to be a sucker to their option grouping tactics.

Truth be known, as many have pointed out here, that certain options really cost the manufacturer the same. However, making it an option they charge more for it. To me, choice of caliper colors should be $0 instead of $595, along with black wheels for $500 and carbon flash emblems at a $100.
