New Key FOB - How to Program as #1--- update!
Scenario...
Lost Key Fob 1... long story!
Still have Fob 2
Bought replacement Fob from de'bay
Brought to C7, followed instructions, no problem, added as Key Fob #3
But....
The door has memory for Fob 1 and 2, so the question is:
How do I change the new Fob #3 to be #1 so I can program memory seat position 1 to respond when I get in the car with Fob #3?
Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
Ed

Follow the procedure for "Programming Without a Recognized Transmitter" in your Owners manual. All fobs must be "Programmed" or linked to the car. It appears to be a longer, more involved procedure.
Good Luck!

I'm looking for clarification here too. On my BMW the fobs were unique to each driver, that is, each had each drivers memory information stored in them. I didn't think the Chevrolet fobs did that. I thought the seat memory was just two stored and one exit position. One driver had position #1 and one driver had position #2 (not to be confused with fob #1 & #2.

The ONLY WAY to have a new FOB programmed as #1 requires the use of the Tech II tool. And usually only a Dealer has that

Hmmmm... Are you sure?
On 2-6 Keys Doors and Windows Owner's Manual
Programming without a
Recognized Transmitter
Says I can program #1 - #8
That is what the link I supplied (in post #4) shows in GREAT detail how to do. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c7-g...s-and-rke.html

When I took delivery of my C7, the dealer lost (as I later figured out), FOB#1 so all I had was #2. They replaced the missing FOB but I could never get the car to recognize it as anything other than #3, even when RTFMing
Took another dealer and Tech II to do it for me

There is really no way to get a new FOB to be recognized as FOB #1. The sequence or order the FOBs are programmed becomes their relative position in the sequence.
So, since you have a new FOB the procedure will be to insert the remaining FOB to begin the process. When you are done THAT FOB will now become FOB #1 and the new FOB will become FOB #2. There is no way to assign a number to a FOB as part of the learning process, the FOB number is simply the order in which they were learned. Is there some reason you need to have the new FOB assigned as #1?
To Ken's point, there may be a way to do this using the Tech II system but that seems like a lot of work and expense just to have as particular FOB memorized in the 1st position.

Actually I don't care which is 1 and which is 2, but now I have a 2 and a 3! But the door memory buttons are numbered 1 and 2, unless I'm missing something....
Thanks for the info on the DIY way to do ot, but the possibility of my C7 being dead in the water has me concerned about the "no known RKE" process.
More to the point, Do the 1 and 2 memory positions relate to each key fob in the car? If I program seat positions for the 1 and 2 buttons while I am in the car with Fob #3, will it program position 1 and 2 for Fob #3? #4? #5?... etc.?

Sadly the No known RKE process is the only way I know to get a "Do over" and start with the #1 RKE. The other process only adds 3 - 8. As I recall, only 1 & 2 have the memory capability.

Found it!
Amazing,
after 4 months since I lost my key fob, I put on a pair of pants returned from the cleaners, and VOILA! The fob (#1) is in my back pocket!
Apparently it was cleaned along with the pants. It works fine!
Thanks for all the suggestions... it does appear that a total reprogram of all the keys is the only way to to re-number them... the good news is that I don't have to!

Quick... Go buy a lottery ticket!
I'm glad your problem came clear without reprogramming.
