our A8 cars we will most likely see in mid to late march...
as far as what the folks in the A8 will do while the manual students are doing heel-toe shifting exercise...most likely will still go on track to experience the automatic in the auto mode vs. the manual paddle mode, again, mainly to get familiar with it...Rick is looking at other options as well as to what to do during that time...
let us know your thoughts!
thanks again,

i like the idea on learning how to really use the paddle shifters vs the manual mode, and doing it on the track is even better.

After reading your review I called and signed up for the August 31st 3 day class. So looking forward to it. Thanks for all the information!
And I reserved the A8 to boot!

I understand they recently started allowing PDR recordings of your class (bring your own memory card). Not sure about other cameras.

Awesome review. I have signed up for the 2-day school May 4 & 5. I too have asked for an A8. They could not promise me an A8 though. It has been a good 10 years since I have driven a manual.

Currently using 2015 M7's
I recall talking to Melinda down at Spring Mountain. If I understood here correctly, She said they are currently using 2015 C7's with the PDR's.
Can someone confirm this?
If so, Do you provide your own SD card?
Do they use the data in class?
Thanks

I can confirm they are using mostly 2015's (and all were Z51's) without mag ride. We went into track mode, competitive mode.
I used the PDR and my own SD card in the 2015's every time I was in one.
They don't use the SD card data in the class.
I did get to drive a 2014 with mag ride and went into track mode, sport 1 mode.
I also used my GoPro Hero 4 and used the suction cup to attach it to the windshield. (They don't want gummy clips all over their cars.) Some people attached GoPro's to the outside of cars in various places too.
I did the 3-day class Jan 17-19. The 3rd day was absolutely the best! We drove the 2.2 mile track exclusively. There was a 2-day class that started Jan 19 while we were there for our 3rd day and they were using another track.
Have fun!

One more question:
Where on the inside of the windshield did you mount the GoPro? Last time I mounted mine on the hatch glass inside with a suction cup. The inside of the car was properly exposed but the view outside the car was over exposed and washed out.
Thanks

I mounted the GoPro on the windshield - passenger side up pretty high. I controlled the camera via the GoPro app on my IPhone.
Here's an interesting twist to recording at Spring Mountain:
The first two days we were broken up into groups of 4 (the class was full with 12 students). One of the groups had a guy spin and go off the track - the guy behind him was using the PDR and had to have that run erased from his SD card so he wouldn't post the spin out on social media.
The instructors are more than happy to help with placing the GoPro's.
