DPS is pretty tough on that in Texas. They can scan your plate as you drive by and see when your registration and inspection is due and when your insurance expires. It pisses them off if you don't have a plate.

Ya California requires obviously, as they require everything, but I've never been pulled over specifically for it. They will always tack on the charge if they stop you for something else however.
Your paint job looks good though!

Have gone 6 years total with no front plate. Just no way to fix ugly, if I get stopped and ticketed I will pay the fine and move on.

I live in VA and require one too. I also painted and polished mine, then added a carbon flash painted plate frame and it looks good! ...at least until I put it on the car!! These cars should be exempt from front plates! So I will probably just keep the plate on the aero bracket but take it off and put it behind my seat in the trunk and if I get stopped just show it to him and say one of the mounting brackets broke and I'm waiting on another to come in from GM! Although I'll probably still get a ticket for my illegally tinted windows!! (Which were tinted when I bought the car, so maybe I can play stupid and act like I didn't know they were illegal!)

The last time I got one of those tickets I was driving a C5, but it was $125 and I gave up and put the plate on.
I don't like it, but it's the law, and does increase the chance of a pull-over if I don't have one.

MD mandates a front plate but I am running without one on my classic BMW M635 as it is registered historic and not a DD. I will probably relent if I get a Corvette. I think the MD dealers are required to install a front plate bracket.

Same here! No front plate and registration + inspection stickers to put on the windshield, as I had in NY! Plus you can drive the Vette all year long!
PS...When I did live in NY....I never put the front plate on my Corvettes.

In Colorful Colorado the front license plate must be firmly attached to the front of the car or it's a $75 fine. I got ticketed by the parking police.
