Don't flame me as I have never owned a Corvette before. The Z51 package has a lot of very desirable features, that is obvious. Are there any downsides? I know the tires are a bit more expensive and no runflats are available in the OEM sizes. That is fine as I have been driving BMWs for years with non-runflats and no spare. Anything else I should be aware of? Is the dry sump oil system something that needs any special service? I understand the Z51 package also entitles the owner to an oil change at 500 miles and they should replace the oil with Mobil 1, is this correct? Thanks for your patience with my questions.

The package price is only as good as how much you will utilize it. I have no use for it. The brakes emit a lot of dust, the oil fill is tricky and it rides hard unless you get another option. (MRC). I also want no part of the ediff.

What is your issue with the ediff? Something else to fail? Your other comments are useful and I need to do some more research. Oh well, this is part of the fun, right?

Just another thing I don't need when I'm going to the grocery store or long distance to see family. We all have diff needs, but some really want you to buy what they own....never mind your needs!....LOL

incorrect, I paid 2800 for the package, so a 5k swing is obviously making me money.

The Z51 tires are not run flats? Didn't know that.

I ordered my C6 with Z51 and have enjoyed it as my daily driver for 9 years, but I decided to order my C7 without it. Reasons I identified:
1. Cost of Z51;
2. I don't track the car and don't need the extra tenths on the street;
3. Ride harsh without MSRC;
4. Therefore, even more money for MSRC;
5. Dry sump system takes more oil (more expensive oil changes) and may be confusing to the guy changing my oil;
6. I find the lower gearing in my C6 Z51 too low for everyday street driving, and am hoping I like the street gearing in the C7 better;
7. Harsher riding tires (and potentially more expensive?);
8. No A/S runflats available in that size either; and
9. I plan to keep it for 8-10 years and don't give a hoot about resale value.
There may be a few more that I am forgetting at the moment, but it was an easy decision for me.

I test drove a ZL1 and for the life of me, couldn't feel a difference in both modes. perhaps I needed more time on it, but we got on the highway and some regular bumpy city roads. I have seen a video of a C5 though during testing, and it made a HUGE difference....

I brought a 2015 Z51 3LT. My first corvette. Bottom line...Decide what options you want and go get it. That way there will be no regrets. If I had a "do over", I'd do it again and trust me, I have no regrets. I really love driving this car.

My C6 rides quiet and comfortable WITH Z51. If anything, I hope the base C7 isn't TOO comfy.

even better for those that are looking for those upgrades have az51 does not make it "better" than anything other than a more trackable car IMO of course

Incorrect. Z51 includes NPP, package deal, I had to order NPP on it's own, either way it's still a good deal. You're always going to lose money on resale, what we're talking about is how much more desirable a Z51 car is compared to a NON Z51.

I happen to think you ought to buy what you want, but to claim that a used Z51 sells for $5000 more than a non-Z51 without considering the initial cost doesn't pass the common sense test.
