Default Black chrome?

Has anyone run across a black-chrome aftermarket wheel that will fit a stock Z51/ZF1 tires? I’ve been looking for awhile and found some 8.5x19 and 10x20 advertised at West Coast Corvette but their supplier will not have them for a few months.
My chrome wheels just seem a little ‘blingy’ on my black/black C7.

...Thanks...

Forgestar f14's come in black chrome. I have them and I have seen people run stock tires on them. Although I personally went with Front- 255's and Rear- 295's.

Thanks Glen....last I checked with them, they did not have anything in the 19/20 size except F14's and those only come in a width too wide for stock tires.
They were quick to respond to my request and their prices are great but just couldn't get the stock size I am looking for.

The Black Chrome is not as durable as Chrome, but I too just love the look.

Not really, just heard this over and over. Could be true, could be false, but for some reason I keep hearing it from many people, especially the folks who have the black Chrome Wheels. on the C5 Cray Wheels came out with some black chrome and the three people I know had problems with the chrome wearing down, and pitting much faster than bright chrome....

So just pass what I heard and saw on.... Maybe I am wrong, I hope so, because I would love to have the wheels on my Camaro black Chromed....

But always put it off until I learn more...\\\\

There is a method that some use to make black chrome wheels that is a powder coating like method rather than a real chrome dipping method. It's PVD, I believe. The claims for wheels prepared in this way is that they are lighter than chrome wheels and don't pit.

I have two sets of chrome PVD wheels for snow tires on my daily drivers. You need to treat it like paint. It scratches easier then chrome and shows a slight orange peel finish. For salty northern climate the advantage is it's not supposed to peel like chrome will when corrosion gets under it. It will chip off and I have peeling starting around the hub covers on one set.

You would need to check with the company doing the plating but many "black chrome" finishes are either PVD + Clear Powder or a paint process. I don't know if any of the current black chrome offers are dipped / plated like true chrome is. If it's a dipped / plated process the underlying wheel will need to be completely stripped and polished since the layer is so thin it will show every imperfection. If it's a painted / powder coated process you don't need nearly as much prep but it's not as durable as true chrome. It is, however, impervious to peeling.

You would need to ask the shop doing the work what it really is to know for sure.

Here's one of the only examples of a vendor actually explain their process: http://www.calchrome.com/service_blackchrome.php
