Default New Redesigned OnStar RemoteLink mobile app....

My mobile app auto updated to the newer version. Makes it even better.
I love sending the destination map directions, entered from home/office, then sent directly to the in-dash nav. Upon entering car, just hit "Go" on nav & it's ready to go, safely!

Easily one of the Most useful app on my phone.

Here's the link:

https://www.onstar.com/us/en/service...=en&COUNTRY=US

I don't have the 4G mobile hotspot service.
But just wondering, who here uses it in their 2 seat Vette?
& how useful is it...?
(Since I don't touch the phone once inside the Vette)

Yeah the old app interface was much nicer looking...this new look is generic and just feels wrong for a car like the Corvette. They should at least offer different skins for the app that we can choose from besides the default sterile blue and white.

I'm assuming that you need an Active On Star Account to use.

the 4g hotspot is not useful if you don't touch the phone. it pretty much will connect to it and u will use data from that hotspot.

this is great for ipads etc that doesn't have internet connection and your passenger wants to get on the internet on her ipad or other tablet that doesn't have a cellular connection.

really, it's pointless

Default location services does not work consistently

Location services is the main reason I use the app because I travel so much. Trouble is it works for a while then doesn't. Called Onstar several times and they said they are doing updates or something so it may not work all the time. If it only works when you drive the Corvette every day the service is useless. Certainly not cutting edge. Thumbs down

And then only if you have the "Directions and Connections" package. If you continue OnStar with "Safe and Sound", the Map button gets a statement "Upgrade Now" and links to a pop-up that states "This feature requires an upgraded OnStar subscription. Contact an OnStar advisor to upgrade your service."

The pop-up includes a button that will call OnStar and let you upgrade the service for an increased fee.

It's been on iOS for a while. Nothing new for this redesigned iOS update other than UI changes.

Thanks,

Agreed, this looks cheap really.

I agree. It looks like they made it more simple. I think the older version looked much better myself.

Never saw the old one, but this flat monochrome look may be in keeping with the look and feel of later IOS versions.

I installed the new app yesterday but have not had the chance to explore it yet. Kind of meaningless at the moment since my car is off the road and I had OnStar suspend service so I would not waste my subscription while my car was in mothballs.

Thanks,
For the 2014 C7 the free version only lasted 6 months. Not sure about the 2015 or Z06. Once the free version runs out, the app will only allow you to honk the horn, flash the lights and lock/unlock the doors. If you have remote start I believe that will still work as well. Those features are free for 5 years. Everything else requires a subscription.

My 2015 3LT came with 6 months free, however, only 3 months for the WiFi. The new app does show WiFi usage, the previous didn't.
