Default Grille Blackout Vinyl

Anybody have knowledge or experience with this product? It is from CorvetteMods. Just wondering if it is just a piece of tape that goes over the chrome piece on the grille or something more precise.

Check out vettefx, he's has a carbon flash vinyl cover for the chrome grill strip. It's precut & takes about 15 minutes to install.

Tried to find a picture so you can see the "carbon fiber" look but was unable to. Anyhow you can see the improvement the overlay makes to the stock grille.

That's I did as a temp fix and never felt it was in need of replacing. Looks good and was very quick and easy.

Black electrical tape would last about 5 minutes in Arizona!

I ordered the carbon flash vinyl tape from vettefx and it took little time to install. You do have to trim it a little because the chrome piece is not the same width across it. I used a credit card to tuck it in.

I just finished with my vettefx carbon flash tape install. I did not have to cut anything but the ends. A heat gun helps soften the material and lets you get it looking perfect. I used a small squeegee that came with an expensive phone screen protector and it looks outstanding. No more chrome smile

no, but I had 3M carbon flash installed professionally for a very reasonable price and I think it looks really good. Best value for money mod ever.

We shall see. I did the electrical tape as a short term solution to see if I like it, which I do. If, when it starts to heat up, the tape starts to peel, then I will get some vinyl wrap and redo it.

Good stuff here. I suggest you "practice" using electrical tape, you may like it as is. Then get the vettfx strip if younwant to amp it up a bit.

But you will find as soon as you black it out the whole area becomes almost invisible to the eye, no one looks there anymore, so it doesn't get intense scrutiny unless you're at some type of show.

The only install tip thats very important is the surface of the chrome has got to be squeaky clean… Use rubbing alcohol twice before you start laying down the new stuff.

here's mine cut from a huge piece of 4D CF....note the uprights are also covered.....real CF on the spoiler, 4D CF on the fangs and grill.

don't buy this 10 cent piece of wrap material...send me a large self-addressed stamped envelope and I will send you a strip free.
