Dealer tells me I have to disable Valet Mode...
... in order to have my oil changed. They claim that it's necessary so they can reset the oil life indicator. Lies?

I got a notice in the mail from GM telling me to take my car to a dealer and the voice portion of the valet disabled. Perhaps that is what they are referring to.
Would guess dealers are instructed to do it at oil changes if cars still have audio enabled valet mode.
Guessing here........................

Not true at all. I had my oil changed with valet on less than a week ago and they didn't have a problem with it. First time I've had the same mileage on the car as when I left it. It was really funny watching them all gather round and look at the car when I left. Always put it in valet mode.

My dealer has always allowed me to go with all my cars on all their service visits, great relationship.

Had the same issue, when I picked up my car I disabled valet mode and they reset the oil life readout, I could have done this just as easy, but I think they want to ensure its done so you can't keep getting oil changes before they would be needed if it wasn't reset.

, if it was truly a case of "We can't reset the OLM", they should tell you exactly that, and then you can say "When it's done, we can do that together." I have not tried getting there on the DIC (or what it's called on the C7), while the Valet Mode in active, so I can't say if this is even a valid argument, but it doesn't really matter.
Simple, if that's what it is. If not, then take it somewhere a little bit more accommodating.
I have Bullets, so when I'm waiting on it, it's not going anywhere w/o me hearing it.

SIMPLE FACT... GM lawyers have determined that GM and YOU could be liable if you recorded others abusing your vehicle without your permission. This is any VALET, Mechanic, or other person who might be driving your car with your permission. SO... if your MISTRESS borrows your car, your WIFE... can't sue her for damages after YOUR DIVORCE!!!!
Hope this is the FINAL explanation!! LOL~~~!!!!!

If you get navigation/PDR, valet mode records, via the PDR, telematic info and video.

Also do a search for 'corvette valet mode joyride' and see the valet who went 50 MPH in a parking garage. Needless to say he was fired amid many news channels that aired the video.
I used valet mode last week and found it interesting that my car was still recording interior audio even though my car was built several weeks after Chevy was advising the disabling of the interior audio.
The valet took care of her, but I did find it a little funny when he was talking to himself as he was trying to figure out how to open the door ... asking himself "how do I get out of here?"

Didn't see anything about that in the owner's manual. I'd ask them for proof that it is required - doubt they can provide it.

If you're that paranoid, just change your own oil or ask to observe the process.

My dealer came and got me to reset the valet mode because it wouldn't allow them to reset the OLM. I reset the OLM and all was good. They are telling the truth about not being able to reset the OLM. Valet mode is different for 14's and 15's. Since 15's can have the PDR too. My 15 would not allow them to reset.
